But still, the next evolution in Byron’s basestealing is knowing not to run on the pitchouts.

 

1 and 2 is the count to most likely throw a pitch out.  I like Buxton running but not sure on that count

There’s a great story behind that, (“great” in airquotes) how the other foul line umpire (Tschida) noticed Cuzzi creeping further down the line out towards the fence as the game went on, and between innings wanted to go tell Cuzzi to position himself closer to the infield to get a better perspective on balls hit down the line like that, just in case, etc...

I’ll never buy that it was anything other than intentional. However they still loaded the bases that inning and didn’t score so
