It's been a long time since 2001 and I am still shocked how Mays and Milton were so great for one year. And that's it.

 

The only thing that makes sense is they were juicing.

That was a long long time ago. I don't recall it, but it's on my calendar, which I obviously still have.

 

Let me just angrily say this: I drank beer. Many of us drank beer. I liked beer. I still like it.

 

Joe May, not so much. I didn't like Joe May much.

Fangraphs is a thing of beauty sometimes. Joe Mays' fastball was clocked in at an average of 87.5 MPH. Not sure what happened to him in 2003 where it dipped to 85.2 MPH... But that didn't stop him from throwing it 60% of the time!

This thread predates even BYTO by four years. It was the old ESPN boards that were dissolved around 2008 or so.

Pitchf/x started the season after Mays left the league. Fangraphs has no velocity data on Joe Mays at all.
