Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I've been suggesting Garver to 1B, to save his brain for a few weeks now!
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Twins (line up brought to you by the letter J)Chase De Jong ( R)b-r.com, mlb.com and Wikipedia all claim that his middle name is Louis, but I know better. It's De.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I've been suggesting Garver to 1B, to save his brain for a few weeks now! Except we have a rightie who needs reps at 1B against right-handers as well. I will be so glad when the day comes that we don't have a glut at 1B and DH and bad OF all trying to shoehorn into two lineup spots. It might leave room for a catcher to get an extra day in the lineup.

ashbury Verified Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 You mean you'd like some good players instead of a bunch of mediocre guys?Indeed. The debate over which .700-range OPS guy to DH or play 1B on a given day gets a little old. I wouldn't object as much to a glut of "corner/DH types" if the problem was which .900 OPS to rest that day.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Garver could play RF, I think he did in the minors. And, yes, he and Austin (right now) should be 1B and DH, imo......

And, yes, he and Austin (right now) should be 1B and DH, imo......Want to say Garver played LF, but not sure I'm correct. Agree Austin should be in there daily as DH or 1B. But I like Garver getting a chance to play again before the season is done, and he's obviously not going to catch. And with Mauer possibly playing his last games, doubt he's going to sit. Tough call here.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Indeed. The debate over which .700-range OPS guy to DH or play 1B on a given day gets a little old. I wouldn't object as much to a glut of "corner/DH types" if the problem was which .900 OPS to rest that day..700 would have been good this year.DH, 15 HR 55 RBI .233 Ave. .676 Ops1B, 12 HR 62 RBI .256 Ave. .682 Ops They gave Palka away and he has 27 HR and an Ops of .776, who knew?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 OK, who is Juan Graterol?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 He's far less sexy than Astudillo, but Grossman has had a killer August-September. I'm shocked that he's hitting in the .270s after the dismal first half he had.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 OK, who is Juan Graterol? He's the AAA catcher called up when Garver had the concussion.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 If Astudzilla and Graterol have a foot race, do either of them win?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 OK, who is Graterol? My grandma had half a bottle of that stuff the time she made those Christmas cookies that made me cry...
Linus Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Sorry but De Jong is not MLB material. Neither the stuff or command to be a winner in the big leagues.
Linus Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 I think Sano should watch Garver hit. Might save his career.
snepp Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Have yourself a game Mitch.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 Did we win yet?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Did we win yet?Yeah, I think so.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Aaron Slegers reappeared from nowhere and somebody named Juan Graterol showed up in the box score... that's a name to remember for future obscure Twins trivia.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Aaron Slegers reappeared from nowhereA place called The DL if I'm not mistaken.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 Yeah, I think so.Some 70odd times this year alone, if rumor is to be believed... Then let me declare the Twins... Winnah! I feel like chicken tonight.

Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 A double breasted chicken is so sweet!
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 When I saw the title for this game thread I thought it was for Saturday's game because that game does indeed start at 7:10 PM EDT, 9/29/2018 AD. And then I noticed the star indicating I has posted to the thread so I knew something was amiss. Obviously I didn't notice last night that the title was inaccurate.
