Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Who is scheduled in Rochester for Sunday?Romero is scheduled for Rochester on Saturday, and Littell on Sunday. Those are the only two 40-man SP who could go Sunday with sufficient rest. Kohl Stewart is a non-40-man option who could do it, although he's scheduled for Rochester tonight.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 I promise to everyone. If Tyler Austin isn't starting tonight... I'm going to type something unflattering about my favorite team.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Rochester is off on Sunday according to their website. It says "no games scheduled on this date" for the International League. Baxendale starts tonight, Romero is scheduled for Saturday.I think perhaps the page is not loading for you -- Rochester does play Sunday. (There are no scheduled off days on Sundays.) They have a 3 game series with Charlotte starting tonight. In the minor league forum, they listed Kohl Stewart as the starter tonight, although that was kind of odd since he'd be switching rotation spots with Romero. I could see Baxendale leading off a bullpen game for Rochester too, either tonight or Saturday.

Saturday (Liriano) and Sunday (Boyd) are the ones to watch for Austin, I guess.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Thanks, that seemed weird to me. I went to their "buy tickets" area and it shows a game Sunday with Littel the starter. Baxendale tonight, Romero tomorrow, Littel Sunday. I think we'll know a lot by whether Romero actually start's Saturday's Red Wing game. Interesting, thanks, I hadn't seen that page before! https://www.milb.com/rochester/tickets/single-game-tickets

Who knows when his flight was or if he even got out yesterday; he might not arrive until today. That said ... he could come in off the bench for LoMo. But hopefully he'll play tomorrow ...
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 I think there's some truth to that, however I wonder how much Molitor's reluctance of using inexperienced players unless forced to plays into that decision. There is an easy fix to that problem.
mngopherguy Provisional Member Posted August 10, 2018 Author Posted August 10, 2018 He'd better have a new-found ability to throw 3 out of every 6 curveballs for strikes, because otherwise the hitters are going to be sitting on his heater. I hope Wilson/Garver have the courage to simply keep putting two fingers down, except the occasional inside fastball, for as long as it takes. I don't think that will work either - I just don't happen to think anything can work. Yep, I agree with you 100% on Duffey.

Molitor said on the pre game radio show, that they both arrived this morning. Said Duffey was available tonight, said Austin would play tomorrow and Sunday.

The Twins are out of it... The Tigers are out of it. There is no playoff sanctity or integrity to protect. The Mariners and A's don't care who wins this game. The option on Logan Morrison's contract will not be picked up. Logan Morrison is hitting .188 with an OPS of .651. I get that Logan Morrison has a lofty .661 split vs. Right-Handers so you get that sharp spike upwards but that just might be negated by Zimmermann having been better against left-handers this year plus Logan's career .167 BA against Zimmermann. So if you are giving us matchups... You just out-foxed yourself. Match Ups? Match Ups?
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 I have (a likely irrational) hope that Duffey can be a good reliever. I like his curve ball and I think they can figure out how to better pitch sequence and locate his fastball. Look at the change in pitch value for Gibson’s fastball. It was a big negative and now it is neutral. They are using it less often and they are mixing up the locations. The old regime would always have him locate down with runners on base. I am sure the hope was ground ball pitcher + sinker low in the zone = double play. Too often that equaled ball on barrel. It was the same game plan for Duffey who also has ground ball tendencies. It doesn’t work.

But he has given up on 2019. That's gonna leave a mark
