Hmmm, that was a strike last inning.

#roboumps

As long as it's smarter than a Roomba, or at least protected by ECM (electronic counter-cat measures).

Seriously, this ump is terrible. No consistency at all.

That's appropriate for two terrible teams, no?

No one knows what a strike is tonight.

Supposedly, umpires get evaluated using basically the same technology they use for the strike zone on fsn. Tichenor’s grade tonight is not going to be good.

Listening to Bert and Johan, all I can think is, those two should talk pitching, with each other, in front of a bunch of young pitchers, because there are definitely a few things the youngsters could learn from such a session.

Heck, I have no future as a pitcher and I'd love to listen to that!

A good craftsman never blames his tools...

Don’t mind Miguel showing emotion when he just misses one though.

Not a golfer, huh? It's always the clubs fault!

So do the Twins try to get McAllister? (DFA'd by Cleveland)

I'd still rather see them bring up their own AAA guys before bringing in someone else's cast off.

I assume that if that had been the third out on Wilson's grounder the run would not have counted even though they tried to get the runner at home?

They wouldn't have come home in that scenario, but Wilson has to safely reach for the run to count so you'd be correct.

I’m surprised they shift Polanco. I’ve never seen his spray chart, but the “eye test” says he’s pretty good at using the whole field.

It could be just based on how they intend to pitch him. I'd agree though, that's a bit weird.

Yes. If the third out occurs as the result of a force out no run scores. However, if the third out occurs as the result of a runner getting doubled off after a caught fly ball a run counts if the runner touches home before the throw gets to the base in question. Even though there's no tag required that's not considered a force out.

Hmmm. Dick said that if Drake pitches the 9th for the Twins it will be the first time ever that a player has played for 5 different major league teams in one season. I guess if you have an 8.59 ERA you'll get shipped around a lot.

Edit: 7.57 ERA. The 8.59 I saw was just the AL ERA.
