Game Thread: Twins vs. Royals 8/4 @ 4:10 PM PT (6:10 PM CT)

[Blake]

Okay, after yesterdays matchup blunder I am now taking the time to look things over and making sure things add up properly:

*Early sabermetrics.

And, after looking things over carefully and making sure I don't miss anything I decided I could get to work on my latest masterpiece:

*Saw these guys open for Little River Band ages ago. They got a standing ovation and called back for an encore. They were a Twins Cities institution for a while.

Then, going through everything again, there's still a chance I'm a bit confused:

*Ah, the humor of my middle age.

With that, it's time to think about some thoughts:

*Is it hockey season yet?

Some random observations from last night:

1. Twins beat KC!

2. Nice to see Sano go 2 for 4.

3. Nice to see Mr Rodney get another save.

4. Perez is a beast!

5. May struck out 3?

*Had to pull these from the box score. At work early and, even on the West Coast, this game ended too late for me to watch all the way through.

Play ball!

Pitching for the Twins:

Jose Berrios

Pitching for the Royals:

Burch Smith

Hello everyone. I give you all permission to point and laugh at any mistakes I may have made. Though, I suppose that's kind of a given with game threads.

Seems to me that a twins game thread ain't a true game thread without something wrong. I mean, look at the squad that we still follow at this point and follow close enough to partake in a game thread. Clearly, there's something wrong with us.

Besides, any intro that includes Who's On First is perfect in my view!

Bobby Wilson > Drew Butera?

Bobby Wilson > Drew Butera?

Brave pick in that nearly impossible choice between two titans of the game.

It's like having to choose between "Joanie Loves Chachi" and "Charles in Charge", if it were possible for Scott Baio to have a negative WAR.

I don't think it's possible for Scott Baio to have a positive WAR.

It is impossible to know, because it is impossible to replace Scott Baio.

[Blake]

It is impossible to know, because it is impossible to replace Scott Baio.

Fortunately.

He's no Jimmy Baio that's for sure.

[Danchat]

...and it's being delayed. It's supposed to rain all night, so we probably won't get this one in.

The delay is for the Johan Santana Twins HOF induction ceremony. There's no precip on the radar.

Torri does the speechifying thing pretty well.

Any word if Humber, Mulvey and Guerra were invited?

Bobby Wilson > Drew Butera?

Twins Drew Butera or non-Twins Drew Butera?

[VATwinsFan]

Any word if Humber, Mulvey and Guerra were invited?

Ouch.

[wsnydes]

Twins Drew Butera or non-Twins Drew Butera?

Yes.

[VATwinsFan]

Yes.

In that case, yes and no.

[wsnydes]

In that case, yes and no.

Nope, just yes.

[LaBombo]

Twins Drew Butera or non-Twins Drew Butera?

Hey, can't we at least let the man retire before we start badgering him about which jersey he's going into Cooperstown with?

Lots of people disguised as empty seats tonight.

[Blake]

Even though I've been watching Berrios for a while, it still astounds me to watch a pitch break over the inside corner even though it started outside.

These are important decisions that can't be ignored! Time is of the essence!

[Blake]

Any word if Humber, Mulvey and Guerra were invited?

Well, they are legendary among ex Twins. Sort of like Butch Huskey.

[yarnivek1972]

Swing if it’s close boys. He’s calling the corners.

[VATwinsFan]

Try not to get too excited, but apparently Oliver Drake is in the house.

Waiting on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting his debut!

10 more pounds down and Sano beats that out.

Or 20 up and the first baseman drops the ball due to tremors and sheer terror...
