That was the right move. The runner has more of a chance of serious injury than a guy taking a cleat in the leg or back.

Agreed, lot of potential of hurting something in your knee/ankle/foot/leg on an awkward step onto a player. Was no good choice for him there, but he made the correct one.

Maybe it's my anti- East Coast bias seeping through, but I'm of the firm opinion that if the teams were reversed on that DP, any Red Sox baserunner would have happily given a sprawled Logan Morrison a Nike-oscopy whether his health plan covered it or not.

As much as I didn't like the play, I'm just glad Eddie didn't get hurt either breaking stride like he did, or leaving a nice big footprint on Pearce like he could have.

Baseball is a 162 game season. For the same reason I get pissed at Buxton for running into the wall to catch a third inning out, I don’t want to see the best hitter on the team turn an ankle just to step on a guy.
