Molitor should have let Berrios finish his inning. This could have been a whole different ballgame if he did that.

Molitor does not trust his young players for whatever reason. He always likes to pinch hit for Cave. I guess seniority matters too much for Molitor.

The FO might option Astudillo down because he is the only one who has higher ERA than Belisle.

Oakland just designated Santiago Casilla for assignment, he has an ERA of 3.16 in the season. He is a better option than Belisle.

Looks like a no-brainer to me.

So are Slegers, Moya, Curtiss, Duffey, May.

None of them has an ERA close to 3 in the major though.

Yeah, but we have better options than the both of them at AAA. Casilla is 37 years old with 6.3 K/9 and 5.7 BB/9 - it's a fluke his ERA isn't worse. I'd look elsewhere to replace Belisle.

The Twins should option Slegers, Odorizzi and DFA Belisle and then call up Romero, Mejia and pick up Santiago Casilla from the Athletics.

None of them has a BB per 9 IP close to 6 either.

I care less about BB per 9 IP as long as he can prevent the runners from scoring. Rodney is a perfect example.

Slegers has been placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation, and Romero's been called up to start tomorrow's game. I don't think Odorizzi is going anywhere unless things get much worse.

Were I to hazard a guess, his low ERA is at least somewhat due to being relieved before his runners score and better relievers getting out of the mess.

If he is so great, why would a contending team let him walk away?

This makes not using Magill even more baffling, if he wasn't being saved to start tomorrow.

If he doesn't pitch tomorrow and we need to use the bullpen for more than two innings, I'm going to be baffled. I understand keeping him fresh and not burning the entire bullpen today, but Molly's just not using him. I am fine with a position player pitching the 9th but they could have used Magill earlier.

Casilla is 37, has declining strikeout numbers and walks a lot of batters, and his ERA has been buoyed by a spacious home park. So yes, all things considered he's better than Belisle.

The guy hasn't pitched in days. If he can't pitch two days in a row he doesn't deserve to be on the roster anyways.

They only used Pressly, Duke and Belisle today (in addition to Austudillo). Even using Magill that would still leave Busenitz, Rogers, Hildenberger and Rodney for tomorrow on at least one day’s rest. And Lynn could probably be used in an emergency.
