Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Has there ever been 12 straight HR to end a game?not today, alas
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Molitor should have let Berrios finish his inning. This could have been a whole different ballgame if he did that.
Foghorn Leghorn Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Release Belisle immediately.
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Molitor does not trust his young players for whatever reason. He always likes to pinch hit for Cave. I guess seniority matters too much for Molitor.
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 The FO might option Astudillo down because he is the only one who has higher ERA than Belisle.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 The FO might option Astudillo down because he is the only one who has higher ERA than Belisle.so they can bring up a fresh arm for tomorrow’s bullpen game?
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Oakland just designated Santiago Casilla for assignment, he has an ERA of 3.16 in the season. He is a better option than Belisle.

He is a better option than Belisle.Yeah, but we have better options than the both of them at AAA. Casilla is 37 years old with 6.3 K/9 and 5.7 BB/9 - it's a fluke his ERA isn't worse. I'd look elsewhere to replace Belisle.
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 The Twins should option Slegers, Odorizzi and DFA Belisle and then call up Romero, Mejia and pick up Santiago Casilla from the Athletics.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 None of them has an ERA close to 3 in the major though.None of them has a BB per 9 IP close to 6 either.
jun Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 None of them has a BB per 9 IP close to 6 either.I care less about BB per 9 IP as long as he can prevent the runners from scoring. Rodney is a perfect example.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 The Twins should option Slegers, Odorizzi and DFA Belisle and then call up Romero, Mejia and pick up Santiago Casilla from the Athletics.Slegers has been placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation, and Romero's been called up to start tomorrow's game. I don't think Odorizzi is going anywhere unless things get much worse.

Rodney is a perfect example. Were I to hazard a guess, his low ERA is at least somewhat due to being relieved before his runners score and better relievers getting out of the mess. If he is so great, why would a contending team let him walk away?
S. Verified Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Romero's been called up to start tomorrow's game. This makes not using Magill even more baffling, if he wasn't being saved to start tomorrow.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 This makes not using Magill even more baffling, if he wasn't being saved to start tomorrow. If he doesn't pitch tomorrow and we need to use the bullpen for more than two innings, I'm going to be baffled. I understand keeping him fresh and not burning the entire bullpen today, but Molly's just not using him. I am fine with a position player pitching the 9th but they could have used Magill earlier.

He is a better option than Belisle.Casilla is 37, has declining strikeout numbers and walks a lot of batters, and his ERA has been buoyed by a spacious home park. So yes, all things considered he's better than Belisle.

If he can't pitch two days in a row he doesn't deserve to be on the roster anyways.

Even using Magill that would still leave Busenitz, Rogers, Hildenberger and Rodney for tomorrow on at least one day’s rest. And Lynn could probably be used in an emergency.
