Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 The Boss has had six #1 albums this century including The Rising which everyone has heard of, you're just listening to the wrong music!Talk trash all you want about Molitor, but so help me, if I hear another bad word about him I will amend the Comment Policy to say negative expressions toward Bruce Springsteen are expressly prohibited and may result in a perma-ban from this site.Nobody ****s with the Boss on Nick's watch.

So much mediocrity....
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 To some here bunts and sacrifices are a fireable offense, never mind that over the last 4 years Cleveland and Texas, the organizations that the FO come from, are in the AL top 5 for bunt hits and sacrifices. Their FO must have some metrics that fly in the face of fangraphs. If only it was "fangraphs" and not years of study and data from multiple places......sigh.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Sigh. Ignore the point sigh well, your point was that a FO has data that is different than YEARS of study by multiple people. This isn't an area where a team has private data that doesn't publicly exist, either. So if your point wasn't about Fangraphs, what kind of data can you even imagine a team might have that doesn't exist in the public that would show all the studies to be wrong?
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 well, your point was that a FO has data that is different than YEARS of study by multiple people. So if your point wasn't about Fangraphs, what kind of data can you even imagine a team might have that doesn't exist in the public that would show all the studies to be wrong?maybe the point was teams can still win even when they do dumb things (though I can't remember too many people complaining about players bunting for hits. The complaints are about just openly giving away outs) Or maybe the point was just that Fangraphs sucks no matter how many different sources and websites say the same thing on a subject after doing their own studies for years ;-)
bighat Verified Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I would like to see a new manager in place. Molitor's an old crank who is riding the players' coattails. 'Member when he got all cranky about Romine playing all 9 positions in one game? And he said something like "that circus stuff doesn't play well with me". This is the same guy who sent Chris Giminez out to the mound a record SIX times this year! What a flip-flopper! Molitor is a walking box of Triscuits. I sure hope he finds success with the team the rest of the year, but next year I'd like to see someone else running the bench.

They only started looking at it last week? Same data, different conclusions. The baseball front offices are just filled with ignorant people? Generic data vs situation specific differences in the data? Something in the data driven front offices tells them not to eschew the bunt

Something in the data driven front offices tells them not to eschew the bunt Well, no place did I say that the FO were filled with ignorant people. No place. Not one time. They could believe the sacrifice in the 2nd inning is a good idea, be wrong, and not be ignorant people. So, I have no idea what you are saying there. The other 27 teams are wrong? Is that your contention? And, don't the Twins do it to an even more extreme amount? Maybe they do it too much, even if it should be done more by other teams?
mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Absolutely no offense intended towards you personally, but I believe there are likely numerous candidates out there who may not availed themselves to you. It may not be your job to find them, but that's what Falvine are here to do.No offense taken, the enjoyable part of this site is the ability to exchange ideas and views.

Your sighing comment would lead me to believe that you have a negative viewpoint with the capitalization to very strongly hint at stupidityThe extreme for SH are the Indians and Rangers, the extreme for bunts is the Rangers. The extreme for sac flies is the Indians. Somewhere, somehow an out for a run in a data driven organization makes sense. This is not saying anything about the other 27 clubs , especially since I mentioned on the AL.
