It looked to me like Buxton jumped too early on that fly at the wall. It seemed like the ball hit the wall below where his glove was. 

 

Did it look like that to you?

He had a bead on the ball but was guessing about the wall. He might have thought he had one more step back and then suddenly corrected.

 

My conclusion: this park is too small for Buxton.

You're right, you don't do that.  But your eye line when you're back there and that trained should be gauged to the point that both pitches are strikes.  That being said, he royally hosed Shields on what should have been strike 3 to Polanco and he just has zero consistency thus far.
