sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Alas, the Tigers came back last night:https://youtube.com/watch?v=ltlPINPn8UU As you might guess, that weighs heavily in my thoughts today. Not that my thoughts are particularly heavy. Although i suppose they are for their size... Other things that come back: Yo-yos.BoomerangsUndeliverable first class mailSalmonTD readers, i hope. But i don't expect that to shed to any light on how to prevent it in future games. I would like to parody the whole "for want of a nail" sequence, but i am not thinking hard today. Feel free to add more steps. For want of a pitch, the game was lost. And wanting to appear helpful, but fall entertainingly short, i started thinking of "sounds like" pitch... Millions of pitches, pitches for free.Pitch me, i must be dreaming."But how do you know it's a pitch?" (It turned me i to a newt... I got better.)Don't want a pitch out, Just wanna ride my...99 problems but a pitch ain't one. Er... yeah. I guess 2 short 5 item lists, matches the 2 5 run leads that didn't stand yesterday?Gives me more credit for planning than i deserve... I gotta check out soon, and march. Do a better job taking care of the game thread than i did introducing it! Oh yeah, Ervin Santana (R )is pitching for us, Mathew Boyd (L) for them, and line ups and such will be forthcoming eventually. Supposed to be 77F and clear. Have a good game!
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Mauer and Kepler get the day off with lefty Boyd on the bump. Need some of that complete game Magic out of Santana today!

PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Pretty quiet on here today. I guess I killed everyone off with my jinxed game thread yesterday! Actually, I left for a soccer game in the middle of the 8th with a good lead. It looked like it was in the bag. Oops.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Pretty quiet on here today.Dozier loudens it up a bit.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 That was a nice play by Castellanos, but if Sano had made it we'd be nominating him for a Gold Glove. It's all about expectations...
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Torii called Escobar Mighty Mouse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-wUe5aEwHM
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 That was a nice play by Castellanos, but if Sano had made it we'd be nominating him for a Gold Glove. It's all about expectations... I nominated Sano along with 20 others.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Pitching around our slugging catcher even with first base occupied!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 2 bunts? With the way the offense has beenHitting? Don't like it
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Really like those last two bunts, score a run and keep the defense honest the rest of the game, a shame neither ended up being a hit (or error)but thats how you use the bunt.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Just tuned into see a lot of bunting
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Just tuned into see a lot of bunting Just warming up for the World Series when they put the red-white-and-blue bunting out on the fences!

The second baseman plays a lot farther from home plate than the third baseman so it takes longer for him to get to the ball.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Torii and Dick about to come to blows?
drock2190 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Let's have everyone bunt. See how that goes.

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I believe that was a curve ball that Sano just golfed into the stands. Did he guess on that?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 We are looking at Eddie Rosario's breakout. Too bad it didn't start in the first half.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Torii just called Rosario "Rosie." That seems on the mark right now, but there have been times when "Sorry" would be more appropriate.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Am at work and just told my wife that Sano bombed, and she told me I could go home and watch the game. Sweet girl.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 OK boys, 4-run lead. Stop scoring now!
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Nice to see Mahtook is human and doesn't get a hit every stinkin' time up.
adorduan Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I guess Sano didn't want Rosario to catch him in SLG percentage.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Just warming up for the World Series when they put the red-white-and-blue bunting out on the fences! That's the kind of bunting that Brian meant some game threads a while ago, not the bird buntings.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Let's have everyone bunt. See how that goes.Once upon a time that would have been my game strategy against CC Sabathia.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Two men on. Danger, Will Robinson, danger!
