Rod Carew reached 3,000 hits "ironically against the Twins..."

No Richard, that's not ironic, although it's a good example of jock irony.

"Look at that, three guys grounded out to short. Ironic!"

I know, but he was in the .170s in may and .190s in early July

Polanco was at .213 last week. He's already up to .240. Good things happen when you put the bat on the ball.

Davies does look like a pitcher. He knows how to attack, and has several different pitches. He didn't fold in a jam, either. Good pitcher.

When would molitor have pulled Davies? 2 2/3rd inning right? I'd love to see Molly pick some times to lengthen the leash. He had an opportunity to do so today. Have to gamble occasionally to save the pen.

With 8 guys out there, you really don't.

Too early to lift Sano in a double switch?

It's a nice lead, but I wouldn't call it comfortable. I think the Twins would want to get 2 innings out of Pressly or whoever is coming in. Sounds like Belisle is unavailable tonight.

Sano seems to be chasing a lot lately

By lately, I assume you mean the last 3 years.

That's one area that is disappointing about Sano's season IMO. I'm not saying he has to never strike out. But it would have been nice to see SOME improvement in his K rate. It's literally exactly the same (one K every 2.5 AB) as last year.

Joe really is sharp over at first, I bet he would have made a good third baseman.

That was where I expected him to land 5-6 years ago. Soft hand, quick feet, strong arm. The tools were certainly a match.

When the decision was made to take him out from behind the plate the Twins needed a first baseman more than they needed a third baseman. That's the main reason he went that way. I think he could have played third if that's where the opening had been.

I wonder what Slowey did to Dick that he is still bitching about him seven years later.

Give it up, Bremer, Swarzak was terrible here.

Not taking the ball when your team needs you to leads me to believe KS was probably not popular with many

And this amazing eight inning performance he had against the Angels was five days after his previous outing and his next outing was five days later as well so I don't know wtf Dick is talking about.

The childish pot shots are annoying.

Well he didn't name him specifically or anyone else. Maybe there was more than 1 like that at that time

It's kinda crazy how terrible Belisle and Pressly were early in the season and now they're back to being fantastic relievers. I can't recall any other pitchers in recent years who swung between so bad and so good.

The Twins traded AJ Pierzynski to make room for Mauer behind the plate.

I don't know. For anyone that has watched a majority of Twins games over the years, Dick seems to do this every couple of months (or apparently any time Swarzak pitches) and since there was never any leaking of any other guy doing this I'm fairly confident he's referring to Slowey.

I think Joe could have been an outstanding 3B, LF, or RF if they had put him there and given him a year or two to settle in.
