I've only been half watching the game. I just saw on the crawl that a 24 year old A's prospect died. Did they say anything during the broadcast?

Quoting myself because I'm very important in my own mind. Actually I had another Philadelphia A's thing. In about 2000 the Twins and Athletics had one of those throwback uniform days at the dome. I think the Twins wore Senators unis from about 1925 and the A's of course wore the Philadephia unis. The big problems was that Art Howe wore a uniform, and if he were completely true to the concept he would have dressed like this:

Ervin Santana knows what he'd doing out there.  Quality information brought to us by Dick and Bert

Mebbe I'm just old school, but I think that's the primary difference between Santana and Gibson.  Santana knows how to pitch, and in addition can put the ball where he wants it pretty often.  He's fearless and throws enough strikes without grooving much.

 

Gibson is the opposite of all those things, despite probably having better raw stuff.

 

Over time, that manifests itself.
