Just to take the pressure off everyone, Santana has a perfect game through 1 inning. Bauer has matched him for 0 innings.

You jinxed it. We're now going to lose by 11, and it's all your fault.

Mauer doesn't have an extra base hit in 55 plate appearances... that's a nice .216 batting average to go with a .216 slugging percentage. I think that's the same stats I had when I played baseball in 12th grade.

I believe I could post those stats if they let me play HS baseball TODAY.

Mauer and Rosario had better be paying for Buck's dinners nightly.  He's the only reason they're not getting killed in the press for their starts.

I just looked up my old stat line, it was .217 AVG/.280 OBP/ .217 SLG. That's about 20 points in OBP better than Mauer right now.  ;)

Your old stat line is online someplace?

thankfully, mine were before a time that would be likely....

Erv doesn't seem to have his control going so far today.

Yeah, he seems a little wild. Hopefully he can damage control, but I don't think he's going the distance this time.

Attendance is so bad, Cory is appealing to fans to go to Target Field on their lunch break.

"...small, intimate gathering at Target Field.  We have plenty of room for ya!!"

Really? that's great.

I hope as long as they are bad, no one goes to the games.

Also, as long as they keep adding bad bars and making it more xpensive and less family friendly.

Is there any evidence he needs that? Why assume he can't handle it? LOTS of teams put young players in positions of importance, and it works. We'll just disagree on this.

Yep, some people and some players can handle pressure - and some can't.  Put them in a position to succeed!!  Then put more pressure on them, after they're confident.  If you put the pressure on first (can you say Buxton?) and they fail, you have a tougher road to success.

Think about the real world, your workplace. Do you hand a kid out of college the project lead on a big implementation or do you give him a supporting role where he can learn and watch and contribute to the success of the team, learning what it takes to succeed when its his time to be the project lead??

Put them in a position to succeed and gain confidence, think long-term.

Nope, I kept track of it all. I was that kid who kept track of the score and all my personal stats.

Just got here and have GameDay in another window, so I can keep track of THE GAME as to score, hits etc.   ;)

So far this thread has no theme like math or Spanish. I may have to take a class to further my education .

Santana is an ace!!!

If the kid is straight out of the most prestigious business school in the country, and has interned the past couple of years with stellar results, yes, I might give him a big project.

Just share your jokes with them and the opposing pitcher would try to hit you every at bat.

Your OBP would be awesome!

Which WAR did you use...bWAR or fWAR?

//stupid question.  Of course you used whichever one made you look better.  DUH.  That's what everyone does with WAR

I'd need new uniform pants every game though.

Gotta push back on that one. "Family friendly" is just code for hokey crap. Not everything needs to revolve around children.

don't agree at all. Hokey crap is pretty condescending way to view what parents have to deal with in having small children at a game for 3+ hours......

Polanco isn't a kid fresh to the majors for the first time this year. Like I said, plenty of teams aren't afraid to see what rookies can do. Us? We like 35+ yo RPs.....

There's 10 times more family friendly hokey crap at baseball games now than there was when I was a small child, and my dad did fine. If you're not there to watch a baseball game, don't go to a baseball game.
