If he is willing to pitch in the minors to start the season.

I think if he was willing to pitch in the minors, he'd probably be pitching in the minors for the Nationals already.

Cut by the nationals but pitched pretty well this spring. Should the twins bring him back?

why? I mean, other than he's been here, if he's not good enough for them, why in MN?

If he'll go to the minors (and really, why would he at this point), sure, why not.

I'd say no, I don't need any more speed bumps placed in front of Chargois and Melotakis.

Anyone know what Nathan's velocity was at this spring? And does he still throw his slider?

Congratulations to Joe Nathan. What a great career.

Selected for SIX All-Star teams. Highly regarded in MLB.

There is no chance he is going to be part of the next Twins winning season.

At 42 years old he has reached that point that most players reach far before he did.

Hopefully he and his family find something fun to do. I very much doubt it is going to include him being a team member of any baseball roster.

Its a nice thought, but no.  We have plenty of young guys here who I want to see before I see Nathan again.  We can bring him back like we brought Hunter and Cuddyer back this year.

Nathan was a total stud when he was a Twin.

But he's pretty old now. Can he still contribute for a full season? Maybe, I don't know. But he won't be what he was before. I would rather keep the memories of his dominance intact.

After he retires I would love to have him as a coach, assuming he has coaching in his blood.

*I'm not advocating for bringing Nathan here.

But the Nationals bullpen is significantly better than the Twins. The Twins should be looking at any and all options to help out there.

No, they should be promoting young players and letting them sink or swim. They aren't making the playoffs this year, they need to prep for the coming years.

Sure... but are they doing that?  I'd take a chance on Matt Albers, also cut from the Nats... and hope he is worth something in July as a trade piece.

Sadly, would pass...even though the Twins need a closer, but not sure if that could be Nathan. Do you need to spend that salary? Yet there is all this talk about having experience to help guide the young 'uns, and what more experience could you ask than a Joe Nathan, even as a setup guy in the bullpen. Except you don't need a teacher in the bullpen which will be full of guys who will not be here in 2018, let alone 2019. If your bullpen was Burdi, Reed, Chargois, Hildenberger, Bard, Melotakis etc., then he could be a grizzled/slick leader. But for Belisle, Kintzler, Rogers, Breslow, Boshers, whomever else...no.

Can he start?.....just kidding.

Twins are nowhere near contention and he's beyond retirement age at 42.  No point bringing him in for one season and holding back prospects.
