Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I finally watched Moon Knight. It might be my favorite Marvel show thus far. WandaVision and Falcon & Winter Soldier might be better but Moon Knight was exactly what I wanted from the adaptation. Complete and utter lunacy throughout with a very superhero feel to it.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Watching Dahmer-Monster on Netflix. It’s a hard watch. Slow with no easy answers to why he was an absolute monster. It throws a lot at the viewer but I think it works overall, as nice and tidy answers don’t jibe with how someone like him exists in the world. And holy **** is Evan Peters disturbing as Dahmer. nicksaviking 1

Watched it with my wife. Strangely, the first episode seemed isolated as all the rest jumped between time periods while the first one was pretty focused on that one incident. Agree with Evan Peters, but otherwise, nothing seemed revelatory; this was all stuff me and my classmates knew and morbidly chided each other with back in my school days. The one thing I didn't recall was Dahmer being a buff workout hound. I'm wondering if that was accurate or if Peters is doing a superhero bod for an upcoming Marvel project. Some graphic descriptions, but almost all of it was off screen. The grossest part of the show was the name though. Dahmer: Monster - The Jeffery Dahmer Story? Dumb. Sounds like a joke title from a spoof comedy.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Really like The White Lotus. The second season is a tad slow, but I am looking forward to the finale next week. Love Aubrey Plaza.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Finally watching season three of Orville. Either it isn't as good as the first two (I thought two was quite good) or Discovery and even the new Star Trek are just so much better that I'm spoiled.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 I'm going to post something really stupid, apologies in advance. My kids watched a Scooby Doo movie called "Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!." It was cute and early in the movie they played Ballroom Blitz by the band Sweet. (You've absolutely heard it). So I thought, 'hey, nice soundtrack. Didn't expect that from a Scooby Doo movie.' Then later in the movie they play this clearly new wave song that I couldn't place. Drove me nuts. I was trying to guess the singer, couldn't quite get it. I asked my wife and she said, "yeah, no idea but sure sounds like new wave." Turns out it was original and made for Scooby Doo. My wife and I have watched the first two episodes, and so far, we agree that the first two seasons were better. It's still worth watching. JcS

Had a free weekend of HBO over Thanksgiving so I recorded all 10 episodes to eventually watch. I agree with your observations and actually considered not watching the rest but glad I stuck it out.

Aubrey Plaza stole the show in the second season, but it’s hard to top the manager from season one. And the music from season two is definitely ear-wormy. Musk21 1

I feel at one time this could have been a Leslie Nielsen movie, although probably his later movies and not in his Airplane/Naked Gun prime. I just watched Rings of Power. It had its flaws, but I thought it was entertaining when all was said and done. However, my Middle Earth Second Age knowledge is a little rusty, and I was not going to notice if one of the plot developments was not true to a footnote in Lord of the Rings or a passage in one of Tolkien's unfinished works or note. I don't think the people more immersed in the Tolkien world were exactly happy about it.
codybenneth Provisional Member Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Today I finished watching a new season of Black Mirror. It was a good one and for sure worth watching. Joan Is Awful, Demon 79 and Beyond the Sea are my top three episodes Richie the Rally Goat 1

I loved it all (well, maybe not LOVED). Yeah, it's almost become predictable how the critical and fan support goes these days. Collectively society finds a great new show. Then depending on how big it is, either season two or season three people turn on it even if it doesn't really deviate from the season one formula. In a world of hot takes, arm-chair analysts with zero credentials and trends that don't last longer than a week, people seem to be afraid they'll be the last person on the bandwagon and their reputation will be ruined. It's always better to be a hip contrarian as that's going to be edgier.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Haven't watched it yet, but The Bear seems to be getting a ton of praise and sounds like S2 is even better than S1. Anyone seen it yet?

GCTF Verified Member Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Currently watching British comedy Peep Show (2003-2015). Completely missed this during its run but recently had someone suggest this to me. I'm about halfway through and am loving it.

I mean, it's good, but it's not as great as the accolades suggest. There's not more than two characters I'd want to meet in person.
