Anyone watch Sandy Wexler? I was surprised how much it made me laugh. Some of Sandler's funniest stuff IMO.

I agree. At the same time I acknowledge that it's possible I could miss something decent. He should be at the point in his career where he could have a JohnTravolta (Pulp Fiction) or Bill Murray (Lost in Translation) revival. Probably won't happen though, I'm still waiting for Eddie Murphy to make a legit comeback.

 

He's done some more dramatic stuff where the movies weren't very good but he actually was. If a good director gets him in another roll like that I'll give it a shot.

I was surprised too. Give it 10 minutes, if you don't like it, you won't like it. I thought it was the funniest comedy I'd watched in some time. Also it's set in the 90s with a lot of jokes about that era.

Somehow I missed that season three of Mozart in the Jungle was out. We binged it the last couple days. No high brow stuff, not the funniest, but somehow we are entertained by it. Good popcorn show, and very short episodes to boot. And, some great music (just try not to get too hung up on the acting as players or conductors).

This and Handmaiden's Tale make me want to pay for tv, even though I hardly watch it.

American Gods is weird. I like weird. Seems it will be like Legion in that its a complex story that will need serious attention to understand.

Have you read it? Weird is a good word for sure. Lots of side stories in teh book also, which you will definitely get in teh tv show, from what I've read.

You should immediately go to a bookstore, and buy all of his books. Seriously. Although, Norse Mythology isn't necessary at all. Don't buy that one.

I liked the first episode and the tone and the weirdness to it are pretty cool.  That said, I'm kind of over the gratuitously obnoxious blood balloon type of "action".  Twice in that episode it delved into that and i'm really not a fan.

 

Realistic violence I'm ok with and even for two hours (ala Sin City) I can deal with it.  But every episode of a show?  That might grate on me.

Finally finished this show. I really dug it.  It's a dark comedy/drama about a spy who is in way over his head and sings factual folk songs to cope.  Not for everyone, but it was for me.

 

Good recommendation, I stayed up too late last night and finished this show. I thought it was really good. It was hilariously absurd at times yet it felt much more true to life in terms of what a spy might actually do compared to the action packed Bond and Bourne stuff.

 

It was a strong cohesive story with lots of humor and tension. I'm also a sucker for characters with moral ambiguity and that basically describes every character in the show here.

 

Michael Dorman, the actor playing the main character was really good. I hadn't heard of him before, but I'd guess we'll see him in bigger projects soon. He nailed that role.

The creators play around with story mechanics and take episode-long detours away from the main cast at points. It's fascinating stuff and way smarter than I expected.

The second season is amazing. At least half the episodes are great, the rest are good. And each great episode has this crazy, experimental flavor that defies placing the show in a single genre. The creators play around with story mechanics and take episode-long detours away from the main cast at points. It's fascinating stuff and way smarter than I expected.

Love this show. The episode where they deviated from the main cast and the Thanksgiving one were my favourites from season 2.
