Game Thread: White Sox @ Twins, 9/3 @ 6:10 pm CT

[Halsey Hall]

Buxton's really playing the game since his call up.

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

And that is why I don't think I could ever call Buxton a bust. He might not meet expectations, jury's not in on that yet, but that right there you can't call a bust.

agree completely

[snepp]

Go away for a few and look what happens.

Had to do a double take when I looked at the boxscore.

[Hosken Bombo Disco]

What will be harder for Buxton to get next: the triple or the single?

[jimmer]

I don't think Buxton has struck out since returning.

[Craig Arko]

I don't think Buxton has struck out since returning.

No he has not, and that may be the best news of all.

[Rosterman]

Whoaaaaaa! Did they all go the State Fair and indulge in grease or something? Still, only the 4th inning.

If Buxton keeps hitting, how we they get Schafer into the lineup?

Wait, the game IS still young. We might see Boshers tonight!

[jimmer]

So, Buxton gets to keep the leg kick?

[Squirrel]

Yes

[jimmer]

Great play by Polanco!  I've yet to see ANYTHING to suggest he can't play shortstop well.

That'll learn ya.

[jimmer]

Polanco has only struck out 15% of the time.

[jimmer]

According to Dick, The Angels insisted on getting Meyer in the trade.

When did Alexei Ramirez get traded? Was that in the off season?

[jimmer]

he wasn't traded.  he was a FA

[Squirrel]

Ah, thanks

[jimmer]

So, um, can we keep Jorge at shortstop?

[Winston Smith]

You are correct, I know a bust when I see it and that isn't one.

[Squirrel]

Ha ... how many players make that hit a stand up double?

[jimmer]

shortstop gave up on that ball.

[jimmer]

Ha ... how many players make that hit a stand up double?

very few.

[snepp]

That'll learn ya.

No, it probably won't.

Ask Chief about old dogs and new tricks.

[Squirrel]

Well, in Chief's case it's old dinosaurs and new tricks.

[jimmer]

We are officially eliminated from division title contention.

[jimmer]

Fun game

[Squirrel]

And that, as they say, is that

[Guest]

We are officially eliminated from division title contention.

Yes, but with the Braves up by two in the bottom of the tenth, the Twins are still in first place by two games for the top draft choice. Think that'll help attract a new GM?

[spinowner]

we all know how a few PAs can turn 350+ PAs irrelevant :-)

Also, has anyone actually called him a bust or have people said that so far he's been disappointing?

I guess it wasn't a bust. It was a flop.

Just watched the video of Sano's blast. There have been a dozen or so third deck dingers at Target Field but that one got there way faster than any of the other ones. I've said it before and I'll say it again. He will hit one over the third deck. He's only 23, so he doesn't even have his man-muscles yet!

[snepp]

Watched Buxton's, he didn't exactly hit a cheapie either.
