Who is the most electrifying pitcher?

I will also admit......I only kind of like watching most baseball......or any sport other than football or sometimes soccer (I tried to watch the free Twins' game on mlb.tv today, but apparently it is blacked out in Oregon.......).

Baseball isn't a sport I sit down and devote 3-4 hours to.  Only hockey and football get that distinction for me.  Baseball I'll be tuned in, but it's something I'm not afraid to flip away from for long stretches.

 

Pace of play just needs to improve drastically.

I would suggest this season finding a time when the Dodgers are home to enjoy the combo of Kershaw and Vin Scully. It's worth the watching...

I've gotten to the point that unless my football teams are playing (which means 1 NFL team and 2 college teams), I'm pretty uninterested in the game.  There are very few baseball games I wouldn't watch at pretty much any level of baseball.

I saw Kershaw pitch earlier this week in LA, good lord does he make it look easy. He wasn't even close to his "best" but still had a line around 7IP 8k 1 ER 5H

 

Kershaw might be the best pitcher of the last 30-40 years to be honest. Dude is flat out dominate. Only an in his prime Pedro or Clemens comes close IMO

That puts you in the extreme minority of fans. Baseball absolutely needs to do something about the pace of play, every year that goes by I find myself watching less and less baseball that doesn't involve the Twins.

 

I have to be extremely compelled to tune into a non Twins game, even a lot of playoff games, there is a reason why the playoff ratings go down nearly every year.

I'm probably also in the minority because I think football is about the dumbest game a person can play or watch. My 5 concussions and arthritic body in my mid-30s ensured that when I have kids they won't go anywhere near a football field.

Depends what you mean by "electrifying". Kershaw is the best pitcher. He brings great stuff almost every time he takes the mound. But IMHO, Scherzer has the most electrifying array of pitches, combining deception, movement and velo.

 

Arrieta is my favorite, with command, control and power.

I'll go farther, if we're talking about "might be". He's only 28 and it's way premature to think about this in any further detail, but:

 

• With his body of work so far, he has not put himself out of the running for best pitcher of all time.

 

And the group of pitchers about whom you could have said that 9 years into their careers is pretty darn small.

Second place would be the fun discussion for me. Peak Pedro and peak Randy Johnson along with Kershaw would be an incredible discussion, but Kershaw is actually getting BETTER, which is incredible to consider.

While Kershaw makes it look easy and is the most electrifying the guys I always enjoy watching are the the max effort guys like Peavy, who looks like he's went the distance after warmups. The results are no longer there but in his prime I really enjoyed watching him pitch.
