BTW... Serious Question

Does it look fixable or a total loss?

It's Been Two Weeks and USAA still hasn't gotten back to me.

I mean, I'm no expert, but it doesn't look promising.

Dick just said Sano was nowhere to be found? How do you lose a 280 lb guy? Did they check OCB?

Mine was a heavily used Opel Manta.    My junior year of college,   every one of the eight or so cars in the 12 unit Minneapolis apartment building parking lot was broken into one night.

Except mine.

And just as depicted in the photo below,   it was so old and plain that it generated a field of black and white around it wherever it went.

Godspeed, mighty Opel.   You saw me through high school and college road trip antics without a scratch.   May the next form your recycled molecules took on have been easier,  more graceful and more peaceful,  like maybe a canoe,  or Gulfstream G IV jet,  or the spiral binding of a Sports illustrated Swimsuit calendar.

What's the story behind the European License Plates? I bet that's an interesting tale of adventure and mayhem!

Well, I'd like to hang around and see how this all plays out - I can't quite tell if we're going to lose 5-1 or 8-1. But I have to go coach my son's U10 Rec League soccer game...a sport I never played other than on the playground at school where guys would regularly catch the ball with their arms and run awhile claiming that it was legal because they didn't "use their hands."

I'm guess what I'm saying is, maybe the Twins should try to cheat.

Considering the front end would be trying to go East if you were driving North, probably not.

A little duct tape and some crazy glue should get you back on the road again.

Moot point! Let Dick sell it on Car Soup! If he can try and convince us that the Twins are a MLB team, he can get you a good price on that slightly used quality automobile. :)

You'll be fine. At that age they're still like sheep. Throw the ball out there and the rest will follow.

I'm not really understanding USAA.

The car has been in the tow yard for two weeks to the tune of $1,000.

You'd figure they'd want to move to avoid the extra expense.

I finally had enough and went to my insurance company yesterday to get something done.

State Farm got it to an Auto Body Shop today and will now subjugate and bill USAA for the damages and this will end up being additional expense for USAA which will include my deductable.

In two weeks time... I didn't get a phone call from USAA and the price tag went up daily.

While I'm without my car.

Little did they know you had the best speaker system of the bunch, and a kilo in the back... Suckers!!

That made me laugh out loud.   While I could barely afford a kilo of mac and cheese in college,   I did manage to buy a semi-decent car stereo,  because priorities.   The AM-only radio in the dash defied all reasonable attempts at removal,   so the glove compartment,  being nothing but a door concealing a highly modifiable plastic box,  became the safehouse to the new unit.

Turned out that an AM-only radio was a greater theft deterrent than a car alarm.    I like to think that some dumb SOB breaking into cars in the middle of the night shined a flashlight into my car and muttered to himself "Thank christ I'm not the poor bastard who owns this POS" as he moved on to greener pastures.

While I'm without a car.

My wife and I have Geico. The last couple of accidents, which were 100% the other guys fault, I've called Geico and told them to take care of it and they have. They've always warned me that I might be out the deductible, but, I've always told them to go ahead. I've yet to pay a deductible and Geico has yet to pay for the repairs.

Seems to me, siccing your insurance company on the other insurance company tends to move things along.

By the way, there should be some pain and injury involved and USAA best be offering to compensate.

Missed an Intermediate German midterm and had to do extra credit field trip.   There's a youth hostel outside of Munich probably still wondering why how those tire tracks were made in the shower.

No,   actually I just picked that picture because it perfectly captured the homely,   clown car Camaro proportions of the Manta.

Subrogate.  Although you may feel like they should be subjugated by State Farm... by force.  But if you weren't at fault, they should pay for your rental car.  They may not tell you that unless you ask.  Then see if Enterprise feels bad for you and lets you upgrade for free to the Charger.

Cool... I'll get to wear one of those neck braces. Maybe an eye patch to make it look worse.

Oh well.   I've lived long enough to see Danny Valencia grow into a feared power hitter,   everything else from here on is gravy.

And practically all personal injury lawyers work for a contingency fee (piece of the pie at the end) and should be able to do all the property damage and no-fault claim stuff free of charge as part of their work on your injury.  At least at my office.  I can't guarantee that at all offices, but they should.

What? I am so disappointed. ;)
