Blake Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Has an entire staff ever been fired during a season?First time for everything. And I think this would be a great first time.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I've been watching baseball for over 50 years, and this is the most hapless team I can remember. Do the players even care? "Hapless". That is the perfect word. Well done. I was going to expand your statement to include ALL pro sports teams, but then I remembered one team, just one, that I saw play once in my youth, that saves the 2016 Twins from that distinction: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3I6Qjmj6brQ/TjhqzPJnhWI/AAAAAAAAAJU/O7WP51L5eJo/s1600/panted-general.jpg
curt1965 Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Someone needs to take a bat to a water cooler! Does anyone ever do that now?
jimmer Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 This team, ugh, so hard to finish watching a Twins game with the way this team plays. I've only been a Twins fan since like '84, '85, and I have never, ever, been disgusted with a team as much I am with this one. There is not one phase of the game this team does even remotely well. So hard to watch.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Someone needs to take a bat to a water cooler! Does anyone ever do that now? They have a lady who comes in every Thursday for that.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 First time for everything. And I think this would be a great first time. It's not really an overreaction at this point. Almost two months in. No improvement in any facet of the game. Listless, uninspired play on a nightly basis. And everything is still status quo. Unacceptable IMO.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Someone needs to take a bat to a water cooler! Does anyone ever do that now?I wish Odor would have saved about 25 hooks for every player on our roster.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Someone needs to take a bat to a water cooler! Does anyone ever do that now?More than likely, the bat would rebound and put someone on the DL with a concussion. This team is hopeless, hapless and snakebit.
jimmer Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 They have a lady who comes in every Thursday for that.yeah, because the players would miss the cooler when swinging at it.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Lol the jays just feast on the twins. I don't believe we've ever beaten them.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Total system failure! \m/

Listless, uninspired play on a nightly basis. And everything is still status quo. Unacceptable IMO.I'm a casual fan and even I can tell when players are not doing the fundamentals correctly. And it isn't just one game, it's nightly. To me, that's on the coaching staff.

Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Most teams break down in any one phase of the game -- offense, defense, pitching -- for an inning or two and recover. The Twins fail in all three phases so often that they are not competitive. The record for fewest wins in a season is 40 by the 1962 Mets. Unless something miraculous happens, I believe this team has a chance to break that handily.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Twins record by 10's: 1-95-52-82-8 I think we can all agree that 91-71 would have been a very good result for the Twins. That's a .562 win percentage. To get back to .500 for the year, they would have to go 71-51, or a .582 win percentage. I'm fairly certain we can stick a fork in this season.I stuck a fork in it at 0-9! \m/
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 On a related topic, I don't suppose there's a Bryce Harper type coming along for the 2017 draft, is there? I got a feeling the Twins may have a very high draft pick a year from now. When a team's this bad, maybe the league should let them have the first five draft picks. Then in a few years they could at least be mediocre.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 They have a lady who comes in every Thursday for that. And She's Fat and to quote Jackson Browne... That Girl Can Sing.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Jesus, Dick. Bringing up columbine. You gotta be kidding. Dick is demoted to the ambient soundtrack at Bombo Manor tonight. How, pray tell, did he manage that tie-in?
Blake Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Atlanta stands a chance of moving ahead of the Twins in the overall standings. Why be dead last in the AL when you can be dead last in all of baseball? #don'tsettle
