Nolasco?

Both the strib and PP have notes about Ricky Nolasco rounding into shape and throwing. Apparently, it might be an option for him to return to the Twins staff this year and perhaps even start a game or two. Right now, the rotation consists of Santana and Gibson, Duffey (whose innings are supposed to be monitored), Pelfrey and Milone, who appear to be on down cycles of effectiveness.

I'm totally in favor of using him if he can help us out. I'd say it's a long shot, but it would be a heckuva story if he can pitch well at the end of this season. Or in the postseason!

Wouldn't it be something if after all the injuries and disappointment of the past couple of seasons, and all the grief and gnashing of teeth here on forums if Nolasco ended up being a late season hero of sorts for our beloved Twins?

 

Heck...might even increase his potential trade value this offseason.  LOL

Put Nolasco in, take Pelfrey out and put him in the pen where he can find out what it's like to pitch after the 5th inning.

Yes, IF the Twins would get to the postseason and if Noalsco can pitch one-two games brilliantly, his value would increase greatly. Still a gamble, but he does have a fairly friendly contract remaining if he can be a top-flight mid-rotation starter.

(The usual dilemma: if we think one-two good games would be only a flash in the pan, so will 29 other GMs. Conversely, if a few GMs start to value Ricky, so will ours...)

the only Nolasco we know is the gloomy guy with arm problems.  and you want to change our perceptions now ?  What a crazy year.

As much as I don't want to see Pelf start, I really don't want to see a rusty Nolasco out there.  For him to pitch well would be a miracle.

 

Now if we are basically eliminated, then throw him out there in a start or relief.
