gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Not completely Gopher's related but Harbaugh is leaving Michigan. I wonder if he knows a bunch of **** is going to come out and Michigan is going to get hammered. Sorta like how Pete Carroll fled USC right before the NCAA rulings came down, twenty years ago.

nokomismod Verified Member Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 So NIL has really negatively affected University of Minnesota basketball and football. Just getting that out of the way and I feel like it came at a time where maybe just maybe the football team was on one a positive trajectory. With that out of the way, this team is in my DNA just as the Twins are. The predictions are not sky high for this year's team, but I see several ways that they could be in the upper group of eighteen B1G teams. Here is how it happens: Max Brosmar is a smart veteran who can get the ball out quickly. He completed passes to 12 different receivers during the Gophers second game The running game will come around with D Taylor and solid depth plus an offensive line that will hopefully grow into the unit that many expect them to be (top third of the conference) On defense the cornerbacks are very good and there is solid depth at safety. There is also really good talent on the d line, but the linebacker group really is what will make or break this year's defense. They were young last year and missed a ton of tackles. If the front seven can do a decent job stopping the run and generating pressure, this defense will be good enough for this team to win 8 or 9 wins. So get out there and enjoy an outdoor football game on a beautiful fall game. sampleSizeOfOne 1
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I hope we win (Floyd is on the line. A mite early in the season, but... big ten has more than 10 teams in it. Oh well.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Sigh. So close to avenging 2003...

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Maybe they can take out their frustration on another ranked team this week. I wonder what trophy they are playing for this time?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Gophers in great shape here to pull an upset over USC. But will they pull a gopher?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 They tried to gopher it and almost gophered it. Crazy gamble
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 These referees are horrendous but it looks like the gophers will beat the #11 team in the country
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 They follow up the USC win with a victory over UCLA. Not bad.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 The Gophers have quietly won 8 straight bowl games. Most years finishing with 8-9 wins which is respectable in the big 10. Especially now with 18 teams. Fleck has been holding up his end of the deal. Getting a player or two drafted, sometimes high in the NFL draft, and keeping the program relevant. It's a shame that Max Brosmer was only eligible to play 1 year here. I haven't seen good QB play with the Gophers in my lifetime. Hopefully Fleck strikes gold again in the transfer portal. stringer bell and Mike Sixel 2

Most people thought he'd declare for the draft but instead he goes to Iowa?!? Where I guess he'll get the attention of NFL scouts by handing the ball off 50 times a game? Parfigliano 1
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Too lazy to search for a basketball thread or make one, but the gophers won their last two games. Good on them.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 California beat them. I saw the missed a game tying field goal in the second half, and California cleaned up from there?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I checked gameday just in time to see the first touchdown happen (against OSU) and that seems like all that happened afterwards. Oh well.
Original_JB Verified Member Posted October 26, 2025 Posted October 26, 2025 After y-day's debacle, I'm expecting a fresh Fleck extension to be announced tomorrow morning... Vanimal46 1
Original_JB Verified Member Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Okay, so I guess they waited a while to piece together this whole new round of $$$ bumps and bonuses.... https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-revises-flecks-contract-new-annual-bonus/
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I was going to be a bit dismissive when I saw he was the 10th highest paid coach in the conference since there are only 11 teams in the Big 10. Then I remembered time is slipping away from me and there are nowhere close to only 11 teams in the Big 10 any longer.
