Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 i wonder if Obama could do an executive order to keep the Twins from coming back to America since they are a national disgrace these days?I'm sure he thinks he can. Even can be drone targeted out of country if deemed terroriest according to the Holder Justice Dept. but that's a whole other story.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 WHY ARE THEY TAKING SANO OUT????? HIS RUN MEANS NOTHING!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 If only TR was watching this game saying "what the hell have I done"? But he's not, he's apparently pretty satisfied with himself.
David HK Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 That's a good job by the young man again. I sure like that Sano fella.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Oh well. At least the pressure's off of bein' in the second wild card spot. Silver linings everywhere, and not a drop to drink...
David HK Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Oh, how it hurts to hear Buck Martinez say "and the bullpen does it again," and mean it in a positive way.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 This...is starting to get a smidge depressing. I mean if the Twins hadn't had the month of May they did and were still 54-52 on August 4th, I'd be ecstatic if you told me that would be the record at the beginning of the season, but here I am bummed out. It's a weird feeling
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 So both you and the GM tell them, "Sorry, you're just not worth the effort. Try again next year when some of you won't be here," and you think it doesn't have an effect? If they are weak minded enough to go into a tailspin because the team didn't mortgage its future to get a short term guy or two, then too bad. We keep hearing about the future and that may pan out or not, but if there is a plan for the future, then it needs to be adhered too. Honestly, where would this team go in the postseason with not one consistently reliable SP or reliever?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 And the twins sink to 11 games under .500 in months that don't begin with M and end in Y. If a band put out 1 good album out of 5, what would you call them?
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I really do try to be optimistic, but the collapse is in full throttle mode. It's a shame as I thought this team could hang on and struggle through the tough times. They are out of gas and it shows. A non-existent bullpen and an inconsistent line-up have slit the throat. I hope it is a quick death and not one where they bleed out slowly and drag out the death sequence.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Pink Floyd?I was thinking "the gin blossoms". Just because.

Honestly, where would this team go in the postseason with not one consistently reliable SP or reliever? It's a good point. I mean, we're all disappointed they didn't do more to upgrade the team, but at a certain point, you gotta wonder would it be worth it for a WC spot, and could they even get that with a hypothetical "sell the farm" approach. Let's say you have a time-machine trade apparatus and go get Mariano Rivera from his prime as that key reliever who will solve everything. You still lose tonight, and you probably still lose a lot of these recent games. All the pitching in the world is worthless if you're consistently getting one or two hits in a night. Yuck.

Yuck.Losing a prospect for a short term player is only worth it if that player helps you win a championship. With the addition of the second wild card, you're not even guaranteed a 5 game series, let alone a pennant. It's just not worth it. We don't match up well with any playoff contender in the AL, moves or no moves.
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I really don't understand the distaste for Hunter. They're fortunate they signed him this year. This is a team that has given OF play to Escobar, Nunez, and still has Shane Robinson on the roster. I think the Twins, with what appears to be a bunch of OF prospects would have benefited more by using that roster spot for evaluating said prospects. Just sorting out the Arcia situation would have been beneficial. That and the almost inevitability of them re-upping him likely drive the dislike. I know it does for me.
David HK Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'm not a stat guy, but I'm wondering how many quality starts we've lost-- That's what's gutting, because we haven't had many of those the last few years, and now we see them regularly. And even tho the BP is a dumpster fire, that's also on the lost-at-sea O.
Kwak Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I think the Twins are doing an anti-smoking PSA. "I quit', "I quit", "I quit, too", ... .
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 What makes this doubly bad is my sister is a Jays fan, she's going to be insufferable.........****!!

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Time for me to throw in the towel. Not on the team, though. Enjoy.
