A's 3b had time to bobble ball, bat it like a kitten with yarn, make and eat a turkey and avocado sandwich, check his email, and get a good start on an Eckersley 'stache before his throw, and it was still just a step behind the Zukester, albeit in the wrong zip code.

 

Seeing him gather himself for the trip to second on the throwing error was like watching a wagon train prepare to move out.

 

And yes, maybe that's overly negative at the end of a nice win, but it's taking my mind off of Duensing's pitching.

Beef-based?  Milk-based.  From cows, yes, but I don't think they are beef until someone kills them. 

 

The factory is just outside OKC in Tuttle, OK, but it's about as far from city as you can get. 

 

Their ice cream is good, not great (I preferred Blue Bell until the listeria problem shut them down) but it's an interesting company.  From their Wikipedia page: Braum's is noteworthy for its level of vertical integration. Almost all the food products sold at Braum's are processed or manufactured directly by the company; Braum's owns its own feed mill, dairy herd, dairy processing plant, bakery, stores and delivery trucks. It also owns eight farms and ranches with a total area of 40,000 acres (160 km2), as well as its flagship dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma ... Braum's describes itself as the only major ice cream maker to still milk its own cows. They also produce the packaging used for their dairy products.

Geez ... it's summer ... lots of fresh berries ... or peaches .... Always good with vanilla ice cream. Or heat up some PB until it's pourable ... Always good on vanilla ice cream.

If you have any hot chocolate packets ... Always good on vanilla ice cream.

If you have any cookies in the house, or graham crackers, crumble them up and sprinkle over the ice cream.

Heat up some apple sauce, pour over vanilla ice cream, sprinkle some cinnamon over it. I like cinnamon, so I am heavy handed with that.

Trying this now with butter pecan ice cream sprinkled with Hostess Ho Ho's.

 

Normally this wouldn't appeal to me, but the civil defense sirens are going off here in the 'hood, and if the dog and I are fated to go Dorothy and Toto into the great beyond, it's not going to be while I'm eating a g.d. rice cake...

Referencing the Twins' 50th win tonight, it sounded like Tim Laudner just said that last season the Twins didn't get their 50th win until late April of this year.    That... doesn't sound right, but it's Tim, so I'm going to have to trust him.

The Royals got 5.2 scoreless from their pen, but still managed to lose the nightcap, so the Twins gained ground.

Duensing has looked solid as of late, I wouldn't trust him in a 3-2 game in the 8th or prob even the 7th, but him keeping this up somehow would go a long ways in to help stabilizing the middle relief. With Rourke up and May in the pen, I am of the mind that getting a solid and reliable 8th inning guy like Benoit would make me feel pretty damn good about this pen.

 

Since the two run non-error double over Hicks's head glove by Moreland on June 12th, Duensing has tossed 11.2 IP, given up 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 9.  ERA went from 9.69 to 5.32.
