Dozier gets screwed.

gets snubbed from the all star game, final vote is nice and all but with the rest of those guys in it I'm guessing he ends up last.

Dozier isn't the only one, but he's ours and I'll be voting as much as I can.  He was boned the minute Altuve got voted in.  No way they take 3 2Bs and Kipnis has been better.

Kershaw got boned too.

At least it was Altuve that was voted in as the starter.  He is having an excellent season.  I would take Dozier over him but it isn't like Omar Infante was one of the two 2B on the team.

Kipnis should have been the starter with Dozier the backup.  Altuve is like 4th or 5th.  Not bad, clearly, like Infante is, but still not deserving.

The title of this thread was exactly what I was thinking when I saw Dozier didn't get in the AS game.  Especially then to throw him up in a popularity contest against players from New York and Boston.  Then throwing yet another Royal up there with their voting scam or whatever it is their fans are doing.  He has zero chance.  Maybe I'm alone in not liking the every team must be represented rule, but a utility infielder for Boston?  That's  lame, and I thought the same thing when Ron Coomer represented the Twins as well.  If you don't deserve to be there, you shouldn't be there.

Holt is having a pretty nice season.

If the ASG were a true ASG I'd care. The sole purpose of the game is to make as much money as possible for the owners, and for that reason the whole process is little more than a sham. It could be a great exhibition but instead it has evolved into a huge farce.

Is there supposed to be a limit on how many times you can vote in a day?

I voted until I was sure I had reached 35 (the limit from the regular voting), then I kept voting, then I started counting until I reached 35, then I kept voting until the game was over (another 10 minutes), then I voted some more because Dozier hit the walk-off. My guess is I voted 200 times tonight, and they all to register (except the 3 or 4 times I mis-typed verification code.)   The "Your last vote was at..." time kept updating, so I think it was working.

While it is a farce, a player like Dozier deserves the recognition and he probably won't be a candidate many times. By just about every measure, he's one of the top two second basemen and one of the top 20 players in the AL. Still, it looks like he'll be on the outside looking in.

Not as good as Doziers.

Dozier is possibly gonna end up with and is on pace for more than 110 runs, 30 HR, 12 SB, 45 doubles as a 2nd baseman!! (Oh and he kicks ass defensively as well)

That is not only all star level, that is MVP consideration level (top 10 votes and some top 5)

Kipnis for sure deserved it more.  Altuve and Dozier are a wash.  No complaints.

Altuve and Dozier are not a wash.  Dozier has been clearly better.

Altuve is a leadoff hitter that hits .300 (with a normal BAPIP), has hit 7 HR's, stolen 24 bases and plays good defense.  This isn't a slight to Dozier but Altuve is a pretty awesome player.  I would take Dozier personally but I'm not sure Dozier is significantly better.  Hopefully Dozier still makes it though.

I voted about 300 times last night and about 50 more this a.m.

I don't think it'll do any good but at least I felt like I tried.

I agree with that, but Boston did need a rep and I would say he is deserving.  Then again......he could have picked Bucholz for Boston and left that hitting spot for Dozier.

I don't know why they need to have 13 pitchers, seems like overkill. You can be fine with 11 and still have enough in case you go into extra innings. Have the SP go 2 innings and suddenly you just need 7 more guys to go one inning each. (3

Left for extras)

Do you know if there is a mandate as to how many pitchers/hitters must be selected to be on the team?

He also could have taken Bogaerts and Dozier  instead of Jose Iglesias and Brock Holt. I know Iglesias is a great defensive SS, but the guy only has 1 HR, 7 Doubles, and 14 RBI and scored 19 runs. And do the Tigers really need 4 players to make the team?

Iglesias is also batting .323 with an OBP in the .380s with the best wRC+ of any shortstop in the AL and tied for 2nd in WAR for shortstops in the AL. (though none of them are doing that well in that department, period with only one over 2.0.).  He hasn't been all glove.

The fans chose Altuve. The players chose Kipnis. It is hard to argue with the players choice and the fans chose a good representative.

Yost had spots for two position players after the players ballot.  He needs another catcher. Martin. That leaves one position player. He needs to take a Red Sox player. Buchholz? Holt as the last position player? I think Holt helps the team more.
