Winning what? Primary gop voters and that is all so far. His poll numbers have only gone one direction and that is down. The party isn't behind him and there aren't enough white lower class people in this country to vote him in. Things will become more clear after the conventions. Clinton isn't spending much money right now either. Once she does though, i expect things to get worse for trump.

Look, I get wanting to be confident about this, but I wouldn't be.

I learned my lesson early on when I kept writing this guy off, this is something different and if that confidence nationally that he'll be defeated becomes too confident....we could be in some serious trouble.

But I'm told shootings won't happen if we are all armed, or something like that.....I have friends that post FB memes every time there is a shooting in an area with gun control, I doubt I'll see any posts from them today about this....

Taking an active shooter simulation and turning it into an actual active shooter is a really, really dangerous scenario.  People may have their guard down and underestimate the real danger in that situation.

Scary stuff.  (And I agree, that argument is asinine)

That's not the narrative I usually see on facebook. Typically it's that shootings may happen, but if others are armed you could seriously limit the casualties. Not saying I agree. But, I suspect if no one is killed here you will see more memes suggesting that if people had guns in the Orlando attack that so many would not have died. Again not saying I agree with that line of thinking, but that tends to be what I see the pro-gun crowd suggesting. Similar to the 'Draw Muhammad' contest in Texas where two attackers opened fire and armed security guards returned fire. The only people killed were the two terrorists.

IIRC, there were armed individuals in Orlando (who I believe exchanged fire with the punk; an off duty cop maybe?) and I know there were armed people in Tucson, who didn't  open fire (thankfully), the Tucson shooter was taken out by a folding chair and tackled by a 74 year old retired Army Colonel.

The tactical training required to effectively take out an active shooter with eliciting collateral injuries is something most common gun owners just don't have.

From what I read the officer traded fire outside the nightclub and when the terrorist went inside that is when the casualties started piling up, but I agree I don't necessarily want a bunch of people trying to do the job of law enforcement. Not to mention that it becomes a chicken or the egg argument. If there weren't such a proliferation of guns would the average citizen need a gun to protect themselves. I just understand where both sides are coming from on this and I don't see any easy answer or compromise. Though like I have mentioned before I think banning people being investigated by the FBI for terrorism or on the no-fly list should be an easy call and a good step to take.

In fairness, I see both.... I have one friend in particular who posts nearly every time a shooting happens in a gun control area saying "see, criminals will get guns". Every. Single. Time. Ignoring the fact that it happens very rarely in many of these countries, which is why every shooting in England is a story, as opposed to it being illegal to even track them in the US.....

I am inclined to be good with TRAINED security....not so much random citizens that think they know how to diffuse a situation. (another meme I see, that Democrats want security, but not random dudes, to have guns).

And, humorously.....there is no active shooter. It was a drill......

That is the distinction for me as well ... TRAINED vs any citizen.

Agreed. Sorry to say, but the civilians who WANT to be armed, are probably the people I TRUST to be armed least

I remember when people were talking about arming teachers and I was thinking back to my days in school. The one teacher who I knew would carry a gun to school would be the crazy sociology teacher who kept getting in trouble for getting physical with kids, bragged (lied) about being a former spy and got the cops called on him for screaming at the paper boy at 6 AM because he was late.

Sorry, way too many of these guys would be/are walking around with fire arms, and they are just looking to "play hero".

I'd be happier if I could bring my dogs into places that allow guns. They could give me some actual early warning of trouble (or food) instead of depending on Dirty Harry someplace in the room.

I like it.  Let's employ a dog-security force at all public businesses and institutions.

Those of us that are allergic would prefer another option.  Not to mention how much I'd prefer not to have to wade through dog hair for anything I need.

Robots would be better, until they decide to overthrow us that is.

I was just having this discussion......everyone in Portland seems to have dogs in their breweries (so far I've found 1 that doesn't) and other places where I buy food.....not a fan of dog hair in my food and beverages. I am somewhat allergic, not bad, but somewhat.

Similarly, I'm somewhat allergic to getting shot by some random ***clown. Maybe some kind of bargain can be struck.

People that are allergic to dogs need to be phased out of the gene pool anyways ;)

Ditto with peanut allergy.

Dogs in bars are a great thing.

I was going to suggest the gene pool could use a thinning of most pet owners.

If only people were that obnoxiously doting about their kids.....

I'm not bad either, but I also don't enjoy eating my sandwich while someone thinks making out with their dog for "kisses" is particularly appealing either.

Your dog/cat/fish/hamster doesn't care about a brewery.  Just leave them at home.

And I'm sure we can find an alternative to dogs and guns for safety.  Like, I don't know, decency and mutual respect.  It's generally less hairy and slobbery.

I HATE animal hair in my food. HATE it.

See I don't worry about that. Nobody confuses me with Patrick Stewart, so I'm quite used to it.

Interesting, two of the breweries by me always have the owners' dogs there too. Is that a brewery thing? I've never been up on the new trends.

Huh, I never saw it in MN.....it is true at most in OR. In a couple, smaller ones, you can't avoid them at all if you want. The two dobermans take a bit getting used to.

One of the bars is MN (barely, it's Moorhead) the other is in Fargo. The Moorhead brewery has a painting of the dog for the logo of the company in fact.

When has that ever happened to you?

Are you straining your beers through dog hair or something?

Only 1 time so far.......

that does not count all the times at my dad's house, where there was just hair on the plates, glasses (3 Burmese mountain dogs generate a lot of hair).
