Kind of chuckled at Ortiz throwing up his arms after he ripped one up the middle and got out.  I didn't seem him doing that on that pop fly double off the monster.  I get that there is tradition and all of that, but I kind of thing the ball park is a joke.

But the punch line never gets old.  'Twas ever thus...

Wade Boggs' career splits:

Home:   .354/.443/.491  /  .934     118 OPS+     362 2B in 4590 AB

Away:    .302/.387/.395  /  .781     82 OPS+      216 2B in 4590 AB

And yes, he finished his career elsewhere, but in his 11 seasons with Boston he never posted a road OPS+ above 98 or a home OPS+ below 102.  In fact he surpassed a road OPS+ of 82 just twice and surpassed a home OPS+ of 120 six times in that span.

So maybe there's something to that whole park effect thing after all.    Or else Boggs just really grooved on that hometown fan love from the unfailingly sunny Boston fans and their universally positive chatter.

Ryan Pressly has been very impressive so far. He's earned a spot in the rotation and he shouldn't be going anywhere for at least the rest of the season.

Also, I liked that Stauffer lasagna reference. I just realized the similarity of that last weekend when I had some.

Maybe Stauffer comes in to mop up in the 8th? If this isn't the game to get him some work, I'm not sure what role they want him to fill in this bullpen.

These days, Suzuki seems to have a blunderbuss...

Santana stops it though, to keep the runner at 2nd. Fly out ends inning so it don't matter.

CBU says it be 6-1 Red Sox after 7.

Possible endorsement opportunity for him.     "Stauffer:    It's what you warm up when the day's gone to hell..."

I'm looking at the stats and trying to get caught up. Hughes looked like he threw a ton of strikes but allowed a lot of hard contact. Correct?

Twins bats haven't shown up yet? Maybe now that there's a reliever.

Hughes wasn't sharp but the Ortiz sand wedge off the Monster was an out anywhere else.  He also couldn't hold runners to save either his life or Suzuki's arm.

Mauer pinch hitting. I assume Escobar slides back to LF, and Plouffe to 3B?

I was kind of hoping to be able to see Mauer in left.

But Suzuki is awesome! I am confused.

Only if you promise we'll get to see him airmail a throw home, from the warning track to ohh, let's say about 12 rows back from home plate.

Uhhh, the purpose? :) He's got a good arm, though. I'd trust him to do that before some other players we've got.

True, but for the sheer exhilaration of speed I prefer the Blue Jay Turbo Kawasaki...

At any rate, in fairness to Kurly Su, his throw to third on the double steal was good, but overall so far this season he looks like what I expected when he signed his extension, which is a guy who you give low end starter money to and yet immediately hope a better player forces him into a backup role.

Just need a blast,3 bloops, and another blast.

Ok, now we are down to two bloops and a blast.

"I don't want a pickle..."

Oh, glad to have ya back LaBombo!

Not so much a purpose as just a reason to want to see it, which would be to replace my current future memory of this game ("Crappy road loss to Boston, hope they're better tonight") with "Remember that game in Boston where Mauer played left for an inning and beaned that fan heading down the tunnel behind home plate?"
