"I don't want a pickle..."

Oh, glad to have ya back LaBombo!

Heh.  Thanks, good to be back.    On a related note, my next spring vacation from TD will be booked through a reputable travel agent instead of just googling 'cheap resort Baja windsurfing tequila shooters'thegametshirt.png

I always thought Milwaukee could do better.

Beer called "Milwaukee Could Do Better" might not sell all that well?

Ok, now we are down to two bloops and a blast.

An IPad can help pass the time between the second bloop and the blast...

The Game!

Fantastic movie. One of those movies you can recommend, but you shouldn't give any more information so as not to taint their appreciation.

In my crazy double feature world, i've wanted to watch it with Hudsucker Proxy...

Well done on the movie ID.  And that's an excellent combo.  The Game is one of my favorites, but yes, it's almost as spoiler-sensitive as The Sixth Sense.  And speaking of the Hudsucker Proxy, might have to name my next male dog Norville.

Oooh.  Hope that wasn't a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen The Sixth Sense yet...

Love Pedroia but really tired of him killing us.

I can't say I love him. I like him when he's killing the Yankees, hate him when he's killing the Twins.  Other than that I can't say I care one way or another.

There exists a spoiler for Sixth Sense? Shoot, I hope nothing bad happens to that little kid in the story.

So we are going to see the Lapanta, Blyleven show tomorrow.

I bet New Glarus could make a that beer and it would sell really well.

And to get ya discussing the night cap... (be it a head ornament or a beverage)

Round 2 of the thread intros...

Well, the actual theme of this secondary game thread intro is:

"It seemed like a good idea at the time.

0. "Second verse, same as the first. A little bit louder, and a little bit worse." (actually i don't know from where i heard that... i should. But yeah, clever, but wrong sentiment for this double header)

1. David HK (who's now asleep) recognized a quote from the 80's cult classic Repo Man, where Harry Dean Stanton's character Bud mentors Emilio Estevez' character Otto in the automotive reposession industry. I thought it would be funny to paraphrase some lines from that movie as Hunter mentorin' Hicks...

"I shall not allow a ball to drop, or allow a baserunner to advance by missing the cutoff, or through not backing up, allow a fellow outfielder's baserunner to advance. It's what we call 'The Outfielder's Code'. Not many people have a code to live by..."

2. I know it's never wrong to bring up the Princess Bride, but it probably can be done too often, and reading too much into things is perhaps the path to madness. "I want to do him left handed. If i use my right, it's over too quickly." is not the reason Perkins throws lefty...

More recently, "Leaving 20 for me. At my best, i could never defeat that many...I need Gardy to plan, I have no gift for strategy." "But Gardy is fired." "No not Gardy, I need the man in black (aka Molitor)"

I'll leave someone else to imagine the battle of wits, if they care to.

3. Trash talking. I don't think i have to explain why it is a bad idea. On the other hand, i'm not bring it up in any serious fashion, but merely as a joke to lighten the mood. Not Trash talking, but trash singing (with a youtube link...)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izv0FfUqUrc

4. Too little too late. As poems go, it might have been nice to relate the one concerning the lights on the old Hancock tower so as Chief and Chief Jr. would know their significance: (from the wikipedia page for the Berkeley Building, aka the Old Hancock tower)

"It is topped by a weather beacon with red and blue lights, which use a code to present the local weather forecast,[1][2] using a popular rhyme as a mnemonic:

Steady blue, clear view.
Flashing blue, clouds due.
Steady red, rain ahead.
Flashing red, snow instead.

During baseball season, flashing red means the Boston Red Sox game has been called off on account of weather."

But alas, the chance use this info seems past. It's kinda like Escobar's 9th inning homerun.

5. Actually mentioning Baseball again. I'm bad at that, and leave it to the end (Now that the lineups are finally out):

Trevor May pitching with his right arm for the Twins.

1. Brian Dozier playing 2nd Base, and batting from the right side.
2. Torii Hunter hitting for Trevor May and also on the right side.
3. Joe Mauer covering first, and batting on the left side of the plate.
4. Trevor Plouffe manning 3rd base, and weilding a right handed bat.
5. Eddie Rosario in Right field and batting lefty.
6. Eduardo Escobar covering Left field and batting such that balls break towards him.
7. Chris Herrmann Catching and batting lefty.
8. Aaron Hicks, the switch hitting Centerfielder.
9. Danny Santana, switching the short hitting stop.

While Host Boston trots out Rick Porcello, a right handed tosser.

And will parade these characters to the plate, only to be mown down until in humilty they cry "Uncle"

1. Dustin Pedroia {R} 2B
2. Brock Holt {L} RF
3. David Ortiz {L} DH
4. Mike Napoli {R} 1B
5. Pablo Sandoval {S} 3B
6. Xander Bogaerts {R} SS
7. Mookie Betts {R} CF
8. Blake Swihart {S} C
9. Carlos Peguero {L} LF

anod now, (or in an hour plus)

Play ye the ball!

I'd buy it.

Love me some Moon Man.

I'd buy it too.  And Moon Man is delicious.  Nothing wrong with a little Spotted Cow, either.

Epic poetry? I'll try to hunt down and kill one of these treasures...

"Vogon poetry is widely accepted as the third worst in the Universe. The second worst is that of the Azgoths of Kria. During a recitation by their Poet Master Grunthos the Flatulent, of his poem, "Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning", four of his audience died of internal haemorrhaging, but the president of the Mid-Galactic Arts Nobbling Council survived by gnawing one of his own legs off... The absolute worst poetry was written by Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Sussex... luckily, it was destroyed when the Earth was."

4. Trevor Plouffe manning 3rd base, and wielding a right handed bat.

You learn something new every day. I was always of the opinion that bats were ambidextrous, like the Michigan mitten.

Over in another thread this was asked:

Sounds like a good punchline contest to me. Winner get bragging rights. Determination of how the winner is selected is open to good bribes.

Er, that is, the Right Stauff.  Celebrate it with the Stauff fest.

(Regretting the first joke when wondering what a Boyer situation might be...)
