a team that played in a dome
now calls target field its home
of late lost a lot
are they now hot?
so get on that field and show'm

2.

Mike Pelfrey now stands pretty tall
he's finally hurling the ball
what pitching's about
is getting that out,
so outfield don't let them fall.

3.

now raise your voices ye singers
our team has got us some swingers
whether ball or strike
if it's what they like
there's a chance they'll turn into dingers.

4.

the long season should never grow stale
and though once in a while, we fail
it's still a team game
so play it the same
and remember to always bust tail.

5.

so here is the game for today
you're all invited to stay
pull up a chair
forget a care
toghether we'll watch the Twins play.

Like most posters, I like what's happening lately with the team, especially the different ways it won these last three games. The pitching is holding up better than expected, and the hitting and defense shows promise.

Meanwhile, I want the Twins to do the Astros thing and win a dozen or so in a row. If they're a team of destiny, maybe we can be, too.

Oh, and your poetry has hints of Frost and Yeats. But they were Yankees fans.

One more good outing and I'll bet Ryan starts getting some serious calls about Pelf.

You mean he hasn't already???

You just jinxed us. Thanks a lot for nuthin'! ;)

No.  This was to counteract my earlier predictiion in another thread that the Twins would win 3 of 4.  Now I'm getting greedy and expecting good things!

It is too bad the Astros changed leagues - it could have been a Twins-Astros World Series.

Heh ... when I moved to Chicago my mom asked if was going to cheer for the White Sox or the Cubs. I said 'neither, but I guess I could cheer on the Cubs because the likelihood of the Cubs and Twins playing each other in the WS is nil' ... I might be wrong

Soooo, no chance for those Cubs to make it?

heh ... it was more not likely they would both be there at the same time ... but I could see it happening, maybe ... say ... 2017 or 2018?

A good day for a ball game, a good day for golf.  I'll make the easy choice.  Good luck, threadies!

I dreamed last night Plouffe hit five home runs today against the New York Knights. Omen.

I'm tempted to say the new Punchline Contest requires an Australian accent, and starts with

"That's not a jinx. THIS is a jinx..."

But which would be worse: the resultant jinx, or that this might win...

And the Twins broadcast today starts with a PR tribute to Hunter. Calling him the cornerstone of the team in the 2000s and the one who transformed our team from nothing to something.

Then the broadcasters said the Twins felt that Hunter had a lot left in Hunter baseball wise. And, like some others, they then said the last two days have proven the Twins right.

I'd rather listen to Hawk when the Sox lose than listen to Dick, Bert, Cory or Dazzle during a Twins win.

Chi-Town welcomes you.
