Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Game-time forecast: Partly cloudy. Winds blowing in from left field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 65. TWINS:SP, May Santana SSDozier 2BMauer 1BVargas DHArcia RFSuzuki CHerrmann LFHicks CFEscobar 3B TIGERS:SP, Scherzer Kinsler 2BHunter RFCabrera 1BMartinez (Victor) DHMartinez (J.D.) LFCastellanos 3BAvila CSuarez SSDavis CF ------------------------------------------- Coming into the final stretch after which Brian can rest his brain from thinking. But not until the last game is played ... 4 to go, Brian! ------------------------------------------- 4 to go? Yet it still feels like 75... I don't know how many I got left.... At least 4... I hope. Things to Think About: 1. Playoffs -- The Mariners are about done... 3 games behind the final spot with 4 games left. The A's and Royals are tied for that final spot. The Mariners finish the season off against the Angels over the weekend. Someone will have to collapse and the Mariners have to get hot for anything to change. The Indians are trying to stay alive but that also looks unlikely. So... The Most interesting battle involves the Twins and Tigers and the Royals and White Sox. If it can be avoided nobody wants to get into a sudden death wild card game. The Tigers hold a two game lead over the Royals and that's not Impossible to over come. The Twins can do some damage this weekend. Let's see if they got it in them. 2. First of the Worst -- The D-backs have about sewn up the worst record in baseball. The Rockies and Rangers are battling for the 2nd worst... 4th worst has become a battle between the Twins... Astro's and Red Sox. How can the Twins play spoiler and not drop draft pick slots. I guess the Astro's and Red Sox will have to win right along with us. BTW... Don't take thought #2 very seriously. The team should play to win and where they draft... They Draft. 3. Taking my thoughts seriously... BTW... Don't take any of my thoughts seriously... I just thought I'd type that and label it thought #3... That way I don't have to come up with a legitimate thought #3. 4. Trevor Plouffe -- I'm sorry to hear that Trevor broke a bone and is now done for the year. With his season now over... I just want to state that I noticed his improvement in 2014. He is becoming a more disciplined hitter... He became a better defender with more range... And in my opinion that makes him an improved leader and this team will need leaders going forward. I have no idea what the future holds for Trevor with Sano behind him. But... His future will be just fine if he continues to play like he did this year. 5. Hey Idiot -- The building I work in is across from a High School. Our Parking lot is next to the High Schools Parking lot. As I got out of car and started walking toward the building. Behind me... I heard someone yell from the High School Lot... "Hey Idiot". It wasn't directed at me but... Yep... You Guessed it... I turned around to see if they meant me. What has my life become?

That one is going to be difficult to top! Brian = Marty Feldman ... heh, gonna be chuckling about this one for a while.

Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Oh, what the hell - it's the last week of the season. I proclaim Thursday, September Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Fourteen: "S@#t on Scherzer Day!"

IF we're not supposed to take #3 seriously, does it therefore mean we are supposed to take your thoughts seriously?
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Anyone else like "Abby Normal" for a new RB nickname?
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I thought every day was S&^T on Scherzer day? SOS...I like it.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 IF we're not supposed to take #3 seriously, does it therefore mean we are supposed to take your thoughts seriously?Nah... Nothing should be taken seriously. I was once standing in the middle of a road and ambulance was coming straight for me. I didn't take it seriously and after the ambulance hit me. It picked me up and took me in. Everything worked out fine.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Anyone else like "Abby Normal" for a new RB nickname? It would create gender confusion... But that's OK... I'd be a bad ass chick!!!

ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Hunter 82 RBI, 33 2B, .290-ish average. Did you see how he gave D. Santana a friendly hug at third base? I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Twins outfield. I know this is controversial, and I'm not the GM wearing a disguise (in case anyone was wondering). Is his defense as terrible as some people say it is? (Baseball Reference grades his DWAR at -2.5). I'm just saying if I see him in a Twins uniform next year, I'll say, "Hey, there's Torii, cool." And I won't care if they don't add him either.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Having a hard time visualizing Igor in a dress.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 As long as we're going down the toilet anyway, when I read the little dialogue at the end of SD Buhr's 'If I owned the Twins" piece, I couldn't help but think of this meme. I did find a clean one to post.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 A base runner! Way to earn the walk, Mr. Vargas!

Usually means some random item like running shoes, pliers or a viola has been left on the roof or trunk, depending on which vehicle.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Bert continues to downplay how hard Scherzer is throwing. He must have thrown a dozen fastballs 95 or better. Bert says 92-93 up to maybe 94.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 Game 163 in DetroitDoes Detroit have the better head to head record then? (I didn't check)
