Sorry to be late or nonexistent in recent games. Travel (taking care of mom in Nebraska), death (one in 70s, another 8 years old, both cancer, and my favorite coach from college, too), and the end of a career (Jeter hit an RBI double in the 1st). At the end of the each baseball season, the melancholy gets harder to shake. Most of the time I always knew there'd be another year, something to hope for. Now I hear footsteps. Time's catching up.

When I watch Scherzer pitch.

 

I've always thought he was good at disrupting timing.

 

He holds the ball an extra beat before throwing. Forcing the batter to stay in stance for an uncomfortable amount of time.

Being torched by the sun, sucked of my life force by the humidity, watchin' a game from the LF bleachers with some cool cats at Target Field in late August. Other than that - it has to be Hughes' overall season.

Hughesie banked more good will and marketability with that interview.  It almost comes as a shock now when an athlete exceeds your expectation for being a good guy, rather than falling short as has happened so often, especially recently.

Circus Boy, my friend, you have warmed my heart and made the grand failure of the Rally Rhino and Comeback Bunny a worthwhile venture. Due to pitch counts, May could probably pitch 8 innings and Scherzer will probably be done after 6. It's funny that even if you pitch well like Scherzer but throw too many pitches, it doesn't matter, you get pulled around 100. Oh well, at least May isn't giving up walks.

Favorite 2014 Twins memories...

 

1.  Finally having a starter in the rotation again who's good enough to have his starts be games worth going out of your way to see, listen to, or gamecast.

 

2.  Briefly crashing the TD server with excessive .giffing.

 

3.  Making it all the way to the final series of the year before confessing that I've been pretending to still like the Twins this whole season just so I could hang out in the game threads.

My highlights--the new kids-Santana and Vargas. I enjoyed the progress of Plouffe and Dozyier. The single play or event was probably Parmelee's walk-off homer in extra innings. I should also add Hughes' season. Pretty special.
