Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Today... I saw a guy with... I'm not sure the exact terminology... But I saw a guy with the highest "gauge" holes in his ears. Big freeking holes in his ear... You could toss ping pong balls through them from distance. I couldn't help but wonder why?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Vargas is fun!!!

DarrenVahtra Provisional Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 i don't know why you don't start hicks in right, schaffer in center, and arcia in left. it seems like you're playing 3 players out of position.
big dog Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Where's Hawk? Did he go out for a scotch and soda and never come back?Good point. He sounded like he had a bad cold or something- his voice sounded shot. Maybe he decided the rain delay was a good reason to go downstairs for a while. I knew I was enjoying this telecast more all of a sudden- big Twins hits, and Steve Stone. It's all good.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Vargas is fun!!!Made me think of an Ogdan Nash poem. The conclusion would be that Vargas is a swozzler, if i remember the poem a-right.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Random airport story: Looking up at monitors to find my flight gate. Sensed thatsomeone was looking at me in addition to monitors Turned and faced a young man in a leather jacket. "Can I help you?" Not in the A-hole way, instead like when you want to help someone. "Trying to get to XXX". Off the cuff: "Your flight is not leaving from this terminal. You need to go this way." Gestures. Smiles and nods exchanged. Anyway, got him on the right flight. Brendan Shanahan. Him, not me...
DarrenVahtra Provisional Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 did he inappropriately suspend/fail to suspend anyone?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 "Can I help you?" Not in the A-hole way, instead like when you want to help someone. I wasn't aware that there was an "a-hole" way of asking to help someone.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Pressly struck out the side. Too often, the phrase is used when a pitcher gives up a two-run homer but scattered three strikeouts elsewhere in the inning. Not the case here; three up, thirteen pitches, three down.

My nephew was playing for Thief River Falls and they were playing Fergus Falls. I was sitting on the top row of portable metal bleachers down the right field line and it was very very windy. The bathrooms and concession stand are situated behind the RF fence so people were always walking behind these portable bleachers. A big gust of wind came up and blew my hat off and I jumped off the bleachers to get it back and a guy walking past grabbed my hat and was trying to throw it back to me but the wind caught it again and it went even further away. The guy actually kinda ran after my hat and this time... He handed it to me. The jokester that I am... I said... "You'll never make the majors leagues with an arm like that". The guy kinda chuckled and continued on his way. Now the interesting part.... I had no idea who the guy was when I said that... But it turns out... It was Dave Goltz. He was watching his son... Who was playing for Fergus Falls. He probably thought... I knew who he was when I made that joke... And I was just amazed at the random coincidence of making that joke toward someone who actually pitched in he major leagues without knowing he was in the major leagues.

Goltz was from Pelican Rapids or somewhere out there, right?

I have one that doesn't involve a major leaguer, but it's set in Fergus Falls and there is wind involved. I hit two homeruns in one inning when I was playing JC ball for Crookston. Two homeruns in one inning. That very rarely happens to anyone, at any level. So it sounds pretty freaking spectacular. But it was because the wind was blowing like 50 mph, straight out to center field, and I wasn't the only one hitting the ball around. It was mostly funny because I wasn't capable, actually, of hitting any homeruns at all.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Brian, Your Dave Goltz story beats mine by six, but wind and Fergus Falls made me do it.

The Vegas odds of that happening in that location have to be about the same as the odds of winning the lottery while being struck by lightning while dating Kathy Ireland.

The Vegas odds of that happening in that location have to be about the same as the odds of winning the lottery while being struck by lightning while dating Kathy Ireland.Or Tommy Milone being the Twins starter in game 1 of the 2015 World Series (while dating Kathy Ireland - due to her being on the rebound from RB).
