howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 The Twins have apparently signed him. New DH or sign that Arcia's injury is significant? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/06/kendrys-morales-twins-agree-to-terms.html
howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Not me. Anyone know why he's still unsigned?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Didn't he have draft pick compensation attached until today? Assume the draft is over (or close enough to over so it no longer attaches).
Trautmann13 Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 This took me by COMPLETE surprise! This means that the Twins have officially put a fork in Kubel, that's all I know.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Wonder how long this was in the works? Since the Arcia and Hammer injury?

Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Kubel has to be done and Parmelee is on his last legs now.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 My guess? Kubel is gone; and maybe Parms, too? Kubel's done. Maybe he can stay around as a 'veteran presence' consultant. I know Gardy values that.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 With Arcia, Hammer and Morales, the corners are covered and so is DH. The only thing that scares me is will this mean that the Twins hold on to all their veterans all season?

The only thing that scares me is will this mean that the Twins hold on to all their veterans all season?Well, Hammer and Correia were the only likely veterans to be traded; and I'm not sure either would have fetched much value. That Willingham doesn't have a viable replacement doesn't bode well for him being traded. As for Morales, I'm really curious about the terms; the contract may extend past this year.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 YES! We have our center fielder!
Gernzy Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Is this real life? Good to see the Twins spending some money when we need another bat.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Morales to #Twins confirmed. One-year deal. Dollars less than Drew but "in ballpark," source says. First reported: @JonHeymanCBS On a 1-year deal wouldn't that mean somewhere around $8 million?
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Bizarre move. It means less ABs for Pinto, which is a negative.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I just fell out of my chair. Shocked!
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Bizarre move. It means less ABs for Pinto, which is a negative. You did see that Danny Santana is DHing today?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Rhett Bollinger @RhettBollinger 33s The contract for Kendrys Morales is one-year and prorated $12 million.
Dantes929 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 No apology necessary for Pelfrey. It should have worked out much better than it did. I am more annoyed at the moment that they signed Correia to a two year deal. Morales looks like a huge upgrade over what Kubel has done for us. Only thing is Vargas doesn't look too far away from which we expect about the same thing. Morales would need a little time to get ready. Would he be blocking Vargas if it is more than a 1 year contract? Or are we trading Mauer?

Marta Shearing Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Hello Morales, May, Fuld. Goodbye Kubel, Correia, Hicks.Hello Wildcard Now if they can find a reliever to replace Burton.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Full time DH. One year contract. Better against right handed pitching over his career. In theory, he takes always at bats from Pinto. However, it really is Gardenhire who has been taking away at bats. There is no reason Pinto couldn't DH against lefties with Morales or Mauer on the bench.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Wow. Well done, Ryan/Antony. Looks like they're in it to win it this season. Which makes the Kevin Correia situation all the more baffling.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Rhett Bollinger @RhettBollinger · 6s To avoid confusion, it's the prorated amount of $12 million per an MLB source. So roughly $7.6 million.
