Marta Shearing's Achievements

  1. When Meyer makes his first home start I might just have to go to my first game in two years.
  2. The entire thing should have been gutted after 2011. When Smith was fired they should have gone outside the organization for his replacement. The 2010 playoff embarrassment followed by 99 losses should have resulted in the firing of Gardy and the entire coaching staff. How does a manager with a 6-21 playoff record (3-19 in his last six playoff series) keep his job? Yet here we are all these years later and everything is still virtually intact. The root of all these problems is incompetent ownership. It's a shame.
  3. The collapse of the Twins began August 10, 1994 when Hrbek retired and MacPhail left. The collapse was complete on September 28, 1995 when Dennis Martinez plunked Kirby in the face. Its been all duckies and bunnies ever since.
  4. If you rested/ DL'd every player playing at 80% you wouldn't be able to field a lineup. Its part of the game. You get banged up. Nobody's saying players should play injured, but you have to be able to play through pain and soreness.
  5. IMO, Gardy has created a culture of softness, yet he's still catching flak by some people for not being soft enough.
  6. 2016: CF Buxton 2B Dozier 3B Sano RF Arcia 1B Morales DH Vargas C Pinto LF Rosario SS Polanco or Santana Meyer May Berrios Gibson Hughes or Nolasco
  7. I'd be happy trading any player who's not part of the future. As much as I like Suzuki, Pinto is the future. His defense will be fine. He just needed to catch more than once or twice a week. Suzuki could really fetch some talent in a trade. They'd be crazy not to atleast explore this option. I think Morales is great. In my perfect world they trade Mauer and re-sign Morales to play 1st base, and Vargas can take over at DH. Not that I don't like Mauer, he's just not giving them anywhere near $23 million of production.
  8. Looking like the Twins lucked out when nobody claimed him.
  9. The more Santana plays in CF the better he'll get. Santana has ignited this lineup. Why oh why oh why would you put him on the bench? He has to play either SS or CF. I'm all for signing a stopgap CF next year and moving Santana back to SS. Escobar has to be a utility player.
  10. Simple answer. Santana is CF stopgap until Buxton is ready. Nunez is SS stopgap until Santana or Polanco takes over. Escobar utility.
  11. So he's back to switch hitting. Im pretty much done with his act. Rosario/Buxton/Arcia Lets roll.
  12. I shouldn't say he's never had a passion for the game, but I think over time he's gradually losing it. It has nothing to do with him not being a rah rah guy. And I agree with the other poster. Some of it stems from getting paid. It's human nature. I just didn't think he'd succumb to it.
  13. I feel the same way. I will come out and say I don't believe he had, or ever had, a passion/love for the game. All these years he's taken off day games after a night game when at the least he could have played DH. The topper for me was a few years ago when he didn't play the Sunday before the all-star game, presumably to rest him up for the grueling all-star week. I believe the Twins lost to Detroit that sunday 3-2. Regardless of what Gardy or Mauer have told us, playing DH is pretty much the same as a day off. And over the years every game he wasn't catching, we had to have our best hitter in the lineup at DH.
  14. They missed a chance to trade Dozier at peak value. I like his defense and power numbers, but too many 0-4's. Too many strikeouts with RISP. In hindsight, I'd have traded him when he was going good.
  15. I don't think he blew out both knees.
