Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Rumor has it that the Twins had to think twice about claiming him. Thankfully they did. Where on earth did you hear that "rumor"?
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Where on earth did you hear that "rumor"? Not sure about the 'rumor' but he as placed on waivers 12 days before we claimed him, IIRC. That suggests that they didn't exactly jump at the chance.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 All possible contributing factors. Could also be a nice spring Saturday afternoon? I'm at work, so can't see game. So anything I say to comment about on-field play will be delayed by, oh, 30-40 minutes.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Hard as it might be to believe, Correia has a quality start in 3 of 6 starts. Starts 2 and 5 are killing his numbers right now. Nice outing today, assuming he is done.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Back to back good starts? I like it

That suggests that they didn't exactly jump at the chance. They would have likely had to trade for him within the ten days, so that's why they'd scoop him up for nothing when that expired.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 And a stolen base for Florimon! Another runner in scoring position.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I think Florimon has been out twice in this sequence.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I think Florimon has been out twice in this sequence. By the slimmest of margins, but I think you are right.
deanlambrecht Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I think this Mauer kid just might work out after all.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Will we get a Darnell sighting now? Said they wanted low pressure situation. This would be it.
Reider Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I think Florimon has been out twice in this sequence.Florimon's hit was good, he was out at first (pick off move), safe at second, safe at home on Mauer's home run. Did I miss something? He wasn't out at second if that's what you were thinking.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Was running errands and what not ... nice outside today, too ... for a change ... missed a good one, so it looks from the score.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Florimon's hit was good, he was out at first (pick off move), safe at second, safe at home on Mauer's home run. Did I miss something? I think he was also safe at third on Dozier's single. But the stolen base was also close? (The pick off move was called safe and didn't get reviewed.) Meh, I was also pleased to see a crooked number. It has been a while...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Nice win ... Kevin Correia ... staff ace!
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 From the angles the TV showed, it sure looked like Florimon was picked off. The play at second was very close, could have gone either way.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 All possible contributing factors. Could also be a nice spring Saturday afternoon? That's my excuse. Perfect day for a 11.5 mile hike out and back to a very cool mountain lake. http://www.everytrail.com/guide/marlette-lake-direct (Doesn't look that way today, much snow remains, but I haven't uploaded any photos yet.)
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Logan has put the fear into the starters!
biggentleben Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Was running errands and what not ... nice outside today, too ... for a change ... missed a good one, so it looks from the score. Not so nice at the game. It was chilly as heck or else the sun beat down on you, so you couldn't have anything stable. There was a very drunk jerk on his bachelor party in our section that was cursing and being rude all game long. He bellowed out "Let's see that warning track power, Mauer!" exactly one pitch before Mauer went yard. He didn't say another word the rest of the game.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Florimon actually looked terribly lost defensively. He allowed Adam Jones' SB by being still in position as Jones ran when he was obviously the one who was supposed to move. If he's there in the right spot, Jones may have been out. Then he had another play where he put the ball in his pocket rather than make a fairly routine throw to complete the out. He did get a hit, though, so...yay?
