    Well at least the deadline is staring them in the face. We will see if Falvey or Levine or whoever it is can have that difficult conversation with a proud veteran.

    Nothing wrong with a little optimism, eh VBR? In any year there isn't a team that doesn't lose at least 50-60 games. A big picture perspective is prudent. I don't see you thumbing down the rampant negativity of those that ride a wild emotional roller coaster. It's unfortunate that your welcomed positivity and big picture perspective is met with such resistance.

    Hopefully this is the plan. If you want a strong rotation going forward, this is the best way. They could trade Maeda or Gray and plug in Dallas, but that would just weaken a tiring rotation. I could see that option if the return significantly strengthened another area of the team.

    Maybe a robot closer, but all others get taken down now and then. Wasn't it Kepler who walked off Hader earlier in the season? I will agree that Duran has not been at his best recently. The stretch where we used Duran and Jax 3 days in a row seem to have proceeded this downturn. If you expect perfection, you will be forever disappointed.

    Agreed, in the OP Ted stated that no one on Twins Daily has ever proved, or come up with evidence that center fielders were more prone to injury. If fact evidence was presented that knee injuries in general were much less common in baseball than other sports. As Terry stated an expat Californian living in Texas came upon some ice while walking into his residence, presumably in flip flops, and tore up his knee. In every sport players not only need to learn how to play, they have to learn to protect themselves. Some are better at that than others.

    I looked closer and you're right, not clobbered. How ERA this month is .450 in 11 games, so he isn't doing as well, but the most runs he's given up in an outing are 2 and that was just his last time out. So he has come back to Earth some but not getting clobbered.

    I'm not in a hurry to unload Larnach, I think he has potential. If Gallo is gone and you don't keep a spot for Gordon, then Wallner could be up with Kepler and Larnach could be stashed at St Paul. Still need a good right handed bat.

    For me it all starts with removing Gallo. Even though I've been ready to move on from Kepler, I can see how his recent play and time logged with the organization has earned him a place till the end of the season. Next I would shop, Gordon, then Larnach. I would keep Wallner. Note to Max, please play with the same energy the rest of the season that you've displayed since the break.

    Cano has been coming back to Earth since mid June and is currently getting clobbered. That may have been a flash in the pan.

    A career ERA+ of 105 which is 5% above average. In 2020 and 2021 he was 37% and 25% above average. That is what the Twins were looking at I'm sure. I didn't say I would've traded for him, I just correctly pointed out that twinsfan's statement was incorrect. Edit I misread Mike's comment, so I shouldn't have quoted him.

    This is simply untrue. He wasn't a workhorse. He wasn't an all-star. He was an established above average major league starter who's home ballpark was very hitter friendly.

    Ryan and a somewhat rested pen tomorrow. Here's hoping for a long start by Ryan.

    Encouraging to smack around Kirby like that and Pablo was good enough. You can only ride your top pen arms so hard. If the middle of the pen falls flat you are going to lose a couple.

    I'm getting the feeling they think Ober is healthy and young and they are just going to let him roll. They do limit him more to 80-90 pitches than 90-100. I'm very surprised and dismayed with them using pen arms 3 days in a row.

    Yes well if that is the case my only question is why the hell didn't they just start out that way? It isn't like a two strike approach is a new idea. Lots of W's left stranded in the spring.

    I agree with all of this except J Pez will still be here next year and the Twins will act accordingly. Look at the stuff and then gaze at Pagan for your proof.

    Wallner has a track record of hitting either handed pitcher similarly in the minors. In a very small sample he has a 293 OPS in the bigs.

    Yes he has scuffled the last 2 games with 6 strikeouts and an 0 fer Saturday. He did show some life Sunday with a walk and a hit late. I think they were working him in with breaking balls, hopefully he'll adjust.

    A rookie like Julien has enough on his plate, the plan to only play second makes sense. Kirilloff at first is the right move too. I like that they are prepping Polanco for third and you gotta like Polo's attitude on this (hello, Kepler?). Now when Royce comes back, the dream scenario is Buxton makes his long awaited return as the prodigal center fielder! Short of that things will get interesting.

    After their worst month of the season, the bats have come alive. Their runs scored by month have been 4.6, 4.5, 3.5 and 4.9 this month with 6 a game the last 9. The month plus from late May through June saw the worst production and poor play as they crept below 500. Score 5 runs a game and I like our chances.

    We still have one of the easiest remaining schedules. I think it's 2nd easiest right now. Many very winnable series sprinkled in with some nice challenges like Seattle, Arizona, Milwaukee and Texas. The starters have regressed a little and the hitters have in the opposite direction. Hopefully the bullpen will get some pieces back plus an addition from outside. Lewis, please come back and make it to the finish line. Now is the time for this squad to round into a more balanced form and fulfill it's potential. Now is the time to go on a run.
