  1. To be sure not every player will want or need time off. But it is equally true that many are dinged up to some degree and could use a break or legitimately go on the IL. Of course there is nothing to be ashamed of or no moral failing involved in that. Lol
  2. Exactly, there is no conspiracy here. There also isn't a starter in baseball that couldn't use a breather at this point.
  3. It would be in any of the starter's best interest to take a break and I believe most would welcome it. That could be missing one start or an IL stint . Outside of Pablo and Maeda the others have shown signs of wear. This is a luxury, my friends, that us Twins fans aren't accustomed to.
  4. I posted this this morning. Don't want to toot my own horn, but I think Falvine is reading my posts. "I would give each of the starters a break. Some more than others like maybe a 10 day stint for those that need it. Forget the 6 man, use Keuchel to give them a break moving him through the rotation one spot at a time. Kind of like a six man but with IL stints if necessary. When this is done you will know exactly what you have, which may be 7 viable starters including Varland. Of course by then it would be time to sweet talk Kenta into the pen."

  6. I read everything I found find on Funderburk, mostly Twins Daily articles. Cody Christy said he had a four pitch mix, cutter, two seamer, slider and change. Has he pared down his pitch mix in the pen? He is a big guy. No info on velocity. Can this guy help the Twins in the pen this year? We need the help in the pen. The Twins have had many relievers that looked good in the minors, but never got the chance. If Kody can help, let's get him up!
  7. Walker Jenkins is the perfect example of how sometimes you have to ignore handedness in personnel decisions. Obviously they should have selected him regardless of how many lefty bats they already had. What I don't understand is Joey Gallo. Why not a right hander if you are not going to trust one of Wallner or Larnach stepping up? Personally I would've rather they sign no one. Yes Larnach has gotten dinged, but Wallner looks like the type that does the dinging, hello Tim Anderson, lol. I would've liked at least some bullpen depth, but I am glad Larnach is still around. From here Gallo needs to be a backup, if he is going to be here. When Lewis comes back I don't see how they can keep him around. If they send down Wallner again and keep Gallo, I will flip my wig.
  8. Everybody talks about how great Tom Kelly and Andy McPhail were and the championship teams were. Now if this team does exactly the same thing as that mediocre '87 team in a crap division did, WOULDN'T THAT BE GREAT!!? YAY HAPPY HAPPY!!
  9. Well at least the deadline is staring them in the face. We will see if Falvey or Levine or whoever it is can have that difficult conversation with a proud veteran.
  10. Oh I agree with all that, in fact if you look at my previous post I mentioned that part of Luis' success this year could be chaulked up to SSS. Just don't pigeon hole Eddie just yet. Play him at second, not DH, and over time give him a chance to develop against leftys.
  11. In 2021 Julien had an 831 OPS against leftys, so not bad. Last year has was terrible, in the 600's. Arraez never was that bad, but has mostly struggled his whole career, majors and minors, against same sided pitchers. This year he's playing full time and doing well. Growth can occur.
  12. It's interesting that Luis' career splits against leftys are not good and the Twins pretty much platooned him, but this year the Marlins are playing him every day and he is faring nearly as well against leftys as rightys. Some of that has to be chaulked up to the maturation of the ballplayer. Some of it may be SSS. But you have to give Miami credit, I hope the Twins are paying attention.
  13. Nothing wrong with a little optimism, eh VBR? In any year there isn't a team that doesn't lose at least 50-60 games. A big picture perspective is prudent. I don't see you thumbing down the rampant negativity of those that ride a wild emotional roller coaster. It's unfortunate that your welcomed positivity and big picture perspective is met with such resistance.
  14. Hopefully this is the plan. If you want a strong rotation going forward, this is the best way. They could trade Maeda or Gray and plug in Dallas, but that would just weaken a tiring rotation. I could see that option if the return significantly strengthened another area of the team.
  15. Maybe a robot closer, but all others get taken down now and then. Wasn't it Kepler who walked off Hader earlier in the season? I will agree that Duran has not been at his best recently. The stretch where we used Duran and Jax 3 days in a row seem to have proceeded this downturn. If you expect perfection, you will be forever disappointed.
  16. Agreed, in the OP Ted stated that no one on Twins Daily has ever proved, or come up with evidence that center fielders were more prone to injury. If fact evidence was presented that knee injuries in general were much less common in baseball than other sports. As Terry stated an expat Californian living in Texas came upon some ice while walking into his residence, presumably in flip flops, and tore up his knee. In every sport players not only need to learn how to play, they have to learn to protect themselves. Some are better at that than others.
  17. I looked closer and you're right, not clobbered. How ERA this month is .450 in 11 games, so he isn't doing as well, but the most runs he's given up in an outing are 2 and that was just his last time out. So he has come back to Earth some but not getting clobbered.
