    Well let's see, starting with one of their first trades, Jake Odorizzi for Jermaine Palacios, who they got back later for free, through Johan Duran for a couple of months of Escobar on through two years of the quality MLB starting pitching from Sonny Gray and a possible compensation pick via the qualifying offer which would be essentially the equivalent pick they gave up to get him. Fleeced? Maybe not every time, eh?

    I agree with your first statement. If you want to beat good teams you have to make the plays that are there. The Jays got their double plays 3 out of the first 4 innings, they didn't mess up. I think it is way too early give up on Julien in the field. He can be a great sparkplug for this team, what does worry me is he seems to have a hard time moving on after a bad play in the field.

    I'm not sure Mahle showed us much. Even if he gets the elbow in order, how's that shoulder looking? The deal for Pineda was a good one for the Twins, maybe something similar with little commitment or risk would be ok. On the other hand we already have one of these deals on the books with Paddack, isn't that enough?

    True that, good post. Even Kirilloff couldn't resist that change. Nice to see the boys pick up Ryan who grinded out a nice start today.

    Concur sir. As much as young guys like Julien and Wallner sparking the team and MAT hitting bombs, bunts and stealing bases will help, Correa hitting for 100 games like he did last September is the key.

    Yes they are going to need more starter depth, no doubt. Maeda could maybe provide that. Falvey said they would ramp him up as a starter, but did hint that by doing so you keep your options open. I'm not sure either Gray or Ober have recent histories of arm trouble. For Gray it was hamstrings and Ober, his groin pull. But yes their disability is in question. I would say outside of Maeda that Headrick would be the next man up. He looked good in his first taste of the bigs and is doing well. He just pitched 7 innings of 2 run ball, but only 4 strikeouts this time.

    I listened to Randball's podcast introducing the new Twins beat writer for the Strib, Bobby Nightengale Jr. Apparently he has covered the Reds. He said the Reds struggled with trying to get Gray past the 5th inning. Early in his career with the A's, back in 2014 & 2015 he averaged about 6.7 innings a start. By 2019, an excellent season with the Reds, that was down to about 5.6 innings per start. That's about where we sit now. Sonny is solidly built, keeps himself in great shape and the intense competitor knows how to pitch. He is, however, a 33 year old 5' 10" starting pitcher.

    Camargo is fun to watch. I've had my eye on him since Seth's video, I think about a year ago. Tons of personality, this is a guy who could add a spark to any team. The best home run trot in the system.

    5'8" 245lbs vs 6'4" 235, something's gotta give, lol.

    Lewis 4 for 4 without hitting the ball hard. Guess things do even out. Nice to win one in this fashion after being on the other end of this scenario many times. Duran not only has crazy stuff, the man is clutch. Back to 500, let's get on a roll here.
