  1. Those 45-44 SEC games where the last team with the ball wins is not good football
  2. When the Vikes were there for 2 years we took in a half dozen games including the unfortunate Seattle playoff game. Nothing beats outdoor football.
  3. Welp looking like they may win this one, your gonna end up going home unhappy, I guess.
  4. We got him for 2 runs in 7 last week and the Brew Crew nicked him for 4 in less than 4 innings the start before. Let's take him out
  5. Joe looking good. A stretch run like his first half might come in handy
  6. Nice to see Ryan get past that first pitch, lol
  7. The OP should just edit the title to include "per at bat" and eliminate a great many of these rebuttals.
  8. @NeverSeenATwinsPlayoffWinat first when I saw the formula you posted my eyes crossed. So, I closed one and took another look and it really wasn't that complicated. Thanks for doing an absolutely stellar job in explaining one of these stats for me. You also briefly noted the properties of other stats to shine a little light on them. I would appreciate better knowing all these stats, but I'm lazy so your work is appreciated. I find it hilarious if it was true that the Twins traded the beloved Arraez for great value then just replaced him with someone younger and better amidst all the crying.
  9. Considering that the word spreadsheets has become a flashpoint around here, it is important to note that a mathematical formula is not a spreadsheet, just sayin.
  10. Per Dan Hayes answering a commenter in the comments of his game recap at The Athletic that was suggesting Correa be cut loose, "He came into today’s game having reached base in 19 games in a row with an .868 OPS, four homers and 12 RBIs." He does only have 2 hits and 4 walks in his last 5 games, so this late season resurgence has cooled of late. Hopefully we can wrap this thing up in time for Carlos to put his feet up for a week. The documented clutch playoff performer would come in handy.
  11. A whole lot of razors edge riding in the game thread last night. It takes a certain toughness and courage to undertake that for 162 games, Lol. In his 9 years as a big leaguer, Carlos had 2 years with a low 90's OPS+ (and one of them, this year, isn't over yet), 1 year at essentially league average at 99 OPS+ (which is above average for a SS), and 6 years averaging 136.5 OPS+ (137 last year). That is all-star level for any player and league stalwart for a GG SS. I'm not worried about Carlos going forward. Playing on an injured foot he is playing a ton of games, is absolutely stellar in the field and still maintains his leadership role in spite of the struggles. I'd bet he finishes strong as well.
  12. Thanks for once again being the voice of reason! How does Correa's contract offer protection from poor performance? I think the salary does go down over time. Is it more than that?
  13. The Donaldson signing was a good one and the trade even better.
  14. The Twins lose a game and a game thread falls to pieces, lol. Damnit Rocco. Even on his deathbed, Franconia schools him. Hahahaha!
  15. Interesting, I don't have much to offer except Giolito threw a ball in Farmer's face and played with the New Jackie Robinson for the Dirty Sox. I'd rather watch the Twins hit homers off of Lucas if he lands with somebody else.
  16. After watching Fundy get the most of his first chance, I will be less haunted by ghosts of past relievers who for some unknown reason never got that chance. Well at least with the Twins. All of a sudden Winder is dealing, lol!? I'll take it. Nice win from these young and explosive Twins.
  17. I'm really glad to see Funderburk getting a chance. There have been many relievers performing well in the high minors for the Twins during this regime that never got the chance. And yes they were then lost, only to go on and get chances elsewhere. This will be fun to watch!
  18. Yo whaa? I refuse Twitter so I can only see so much. Are the Twins finally calling up a AAA reliever that we are all clamoring for?
  19. I don't think this front office has the stomach to cut Gallo loose. I'm starting to wonder if they might even have Luplow on the playoff roster, lol.
  20. Another good win against a tough team, but man the Rangers are on a skid. The team showed some fire. Some tough talk by Wallner in the post game interview with Audra, "if they want some, come get it". Lol, again the kid has got an edge to him, I like it.
