Not gonna happen, but you are right, he does deserve some consideration. He'll probably finish behind all the guys on that list, simply due to sample size. We'll take a postseason victory over a ROY award!

What to Make of the Twins Arraez-for-Lopez Trade Now
bighat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Feel like I could have written this myself.....if I were a better writer! Well said, 100% agree on all of this. Having Lopez on my fantasy baseball team as well this year allowed me to follow him closely. There aren't many pitchers in MLB like Pablo Lopez.- 51 replies

So many of Royce's homers are just like the one he hit last night in Chicago - no-doubter bombs! Haven't seen that type of power in a Twins uniform in recent memory.

The fact that he was good early in the year is because teams hadn't figured him out yet. The book on Jax is out and everyone has it. He has to adjust or say goodbye to MLB, simple as that.

This is what happens against better teams and it's what will happen in the playoffs. To be honest I'm pretty sure they'll be swept, but if they do win a game it'll go just like this series: Twins will lose the opener handily, maybe win Game 2 if the other team's bats get cold in a 2-1 squeaker, then lose game 3. This is how it's gone all year, why should anyone think it'll be different in October? You think Buxton and Paddack going to help?

A good time to be clicking and the team seems to be having fun and creating some positive moments. Would love to see this team steam towards the postseason like a runaway locomotive. No cupcakes in October.

Game Thread: Twins (Gray) v Guardians (Bibee), 9/5 @ 5:10pm CT
bighat replied to Squirrel's topic in Archived Game Threads
Absolute robbery - that was clearly a home run by Polanco. -
Remember when Miguel Sano hit a grand slam a few years ago to shut the door on Cleveland and essentially clinch the division for the Twins? That Royce Lewis slam kinda had that same feeling. Nice statement win. Get these next 2 and we can hit the cruise control button.

Playoffs?

When it's all said and done, Royce Lewis will be in the same breath with Carew, Puckett, Killebrew and Mauer.

I believe the wheels came off last year when the Twins got swept by a mediocre Texas team at home. The recent history against the Rangers in Target Field ain't good.

Baldelli managing Ober like the Twins have already won the division and just giving games away as if the division's already clinched. This is typical of Rocco - he gives up on games and always plays with tomorrow in mind rather than going for wins TODAY. Gives up wayyyy too easy. The whole team does, in fact.

Twins Fantasy Fix (8/20): All About Pablo
bighat replied to Mike Rose's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I traded for Lopez in Fantasy very early in the season, and I'm happy I did! My team still might not make the playoffs but Pablo's been a great guy to have on the squad.- 1 reply

Agreed. Would love to see what he's got. Same goes for Lee. Twins have a history of sitting on prospects, so we'll see.

Is It Time to Worry About Jhoan Duran?
bighat replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not worried. Least of the Twins' problems. -
Agree with @Mike Sixeland @IA Bean Counter- it's curtains for Wander's career in MLB. There's just too much smoke around this for there not to be a fire. I've read a few reports from Dominican MLB reporters who have pretty much said that they believe his career is over. Mayyyybe he plays in Japan, Korea, or a Mexican/Dominican/Venezuelan league at some point. But that might be 5 years from now at the very least...and at this point I'm leaning even those scenarios appear unlikely. Most certainly with the MLB, you just don't come back from this. I can't think of any team putting this guy out there. It's over.

Sad to see the Tigers just wipe the floor with this team here in '23. Every time the Twins win half the commenters here start talking about the playoff rotation. It ain't over, folks. Not with these guys.

That was Cabrera's SECOND homer of the season? Woof. That said, I agree with others, guy's a class act and he deserves every accolade given. I'm sure the Tigers are pretty pleased he's moving on..... Wallner continues to be 'da man on offense. Bat this kid 4th every day, best offensive weapon we have. Next to Royce, of course, who should be batting 3rd. The time is now for these guys. Let's win today.

Where Do the Twins Fit All of the Youth
bighat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yep. Buxton as the DH is hurting this team in several ways. First off, he's a DH who can't hit - that's bad. He also can't play defense when DH'ing, and considering that's probably his #1 strength, that's also bad. Finally, he's blocking everyone else....bad bad bad. This is all on Falvey, Levine, and Rocco. Buxton can steal bases and run around the basepaths - he CAN play CF right now, today. They just don't want him to. It's ridiculous. If another team traded for Buxton they'd put him in CF before the wheels on the plane touched down.- 76 replies

Same here. These guys aren't fun to watch and they are racking up ugly losses to ugly teams in the process. Since Rocco got here, there's never been any sense of urgency with this team. No flavor, no heart, and they don't know how to shut the door. These lifeless performances speak volumes. And I fear that Buxton coming back will only make the team worse. I can't believe I'm actually typing that, but it's a sad reality.

"The Diamondbacks had two double steals against Keuchel, and stole bases eight times in the game, six of them double steals. " Holy hell! Nice to see the sweep. For those saying things like "now it's time to overtake Texas for the 2 seed" or something crazy like that, remember what happened last week, they lost 5 straight and got swept by KC. This team will continue to have ups and downs as we roll into the dog days of August. Nothing should be taken for granted and a division win is still very much up in the air, despite what fangraphs says. Tread lightly with your hopes. This Wallner kid is everything we hoped Trevor Larnach would be. Might be the best offensive weapon the Twins have right now. He should be playing every day until the team's season is over!

Big losing streak last week, and while the Twins are starting to right the ship, these 3-2 wins aren't exactly a great sign that they've turned things around. Watching these guys can be like watching paint dry, probably the most boring on-field product in MLB right now. A far cry from the teams that Joe Mauer played on. Speaking of Joe, big weekend for him - happy to see him being honored.
