  1. Verlander just ate Wallner and Kirilloff alive with men on base. I'm guessing Solano and Farmer get a shot, we need veterans in the lineup. Let's all be honest, in hindsight Ober wasn't the best choice to start this game. All the runs in one inning for the Twins, we've seen that movie before. Gotta tack on, this ain't Kansas City we're playing here. Great to see that fire in the 7th, it just might get the guys fired up enough to make a game of things in Game 2. And that's good because a loss today and you can put a bow on the series. It's a must win.
  2. Rats. That was a good chance. Too bad about the DP.
  3. Trying to stream online, hope I can at least watch the beginning somewhere before this O's / Rangers game is over. Yeesh.
  4. Interesting move, as ownership/management is definitively saying that - when pressed - they think Ober is better than Ryan. Sure, you can get into home vs. away splits, matchups, etc....but the meat of this decision is that they're picking Ober over Ryan when the chips are on the line. Maybe this motivates Joe to go out there and have the best start of his life later in this series - if it gets to a Game 4. Personally I've always liked Ryan's fire and competitiveness, and frankly I wouldn't be sad if he was starting today over Ober. Looking forward to seeing how it goes today. Let's steal one.
  5. You and me both - man, I was so down on this team this season. I didn't even think they'd take the division let alone with a playoff game. Thrilled to have been proven wrong by this '23 team and I couldn't be more excited for Saturday's game. Let's shock Houston!
  6. I feel like the Twins need 3 runs to win this thing. I just can't imagine Toronto scoring 2 runs or less in 2 games. The Jays are definitely pulling out all the stops, using their closer in the 7th. There is no tomorrow for them, I don't expect them to go down easily.
  7. Let's GOOOO! Tack on 1 or 2 here in the 7th boys.
  8. Wow, I had no clue. Thanks.
  9. Liked Berrios as a Twin. Will always remember him as a Twin, fondly. Like him as a Blue Jay, and if he's pitching against the Yankees or Royals or Mariners or something, I hope he does well. He's a Blue Jay now. Pitching against Minnesota and the Twins have the ability to move to the next round with a victory. There's nothing I'd like to see more than the Twins to light him up for 5 runs in the first and chase him by the 3rd and get the Jays into scramble mode. I'll then be happy to resume rooting for Berrios in 2024.
  10. I get where you're going with this - and Ryan isn't chopped liver by any means, so it makes sense to a certain extent. Rocco's always "playing for tomorrow" so it fits with the current Twins method. That said, going to Toronto for a Game 3 sounds like a nightmare. Rather than have Gray start that game, the Twins would prefer to avoid it all together. Gray today, worry about Houston when we get to Houston.
  11. You could use that same argument with the Blue Jays.....
  12. Awful half inning for the offense, Twins not doing a great job capturing the momentum here.
  13. MLB commissioner made some calls to the umps after the Twins got up 3-0. They don't want MN advancing, we all know that.
  14. Horrific strike 1 call there on Wallner. Woof.
  15. OK defense, pitching, let's keep things on an even keel. One out at a time.
  16. You just named my main problem with Rocco - he's always "managing for tomorrow". If the Twins are down by 3 runs and it's the 6th inning, he's already pulling guys out and resting them for the next day, maybe using the Twins' 3rd tier relievers as opposed to the top guys in situations like that. I understand the philosophy, I just don't agree with it. Reading about how Maeda might piggyback on Ryan's playoff start makes me worried that Rocco will pull Ryan in the 4th inning even if the kid is pitching lights out. It would be a very 'on brand' move. Worries and gripes aside, the Twins are in the playoffs and we've got some meaningful baseball coming our way soon! In June I really soured on this team and had all but given up hope, but they've shown some real grit and I'm gladly eating crow. Pass the hot sauce and GO TWINS.
  17. Great to see the guys enjoy this moment and love Farmer's bold prediction!
  18. My wife is Guatemalan and we live in the USA. We weren't able to see her family for 2 years when we were processing her US residency (green card). Most people don't realize it, but not everyone can just jump on a plane and fly to the USA - and getting a travel visa isn't cheap or easy for many families. One of my wife's brothers has a US visa, but nobody else in her family does, so they've never been able to come here and see us or visit us. Very happy that Luis and Brusdar were able to make those moments happen!
