  1. Boy Vasquez is really bad. Should've pinch hit Jeffers there IMO.
  2. Tommy Pham is lighting up the Twins this series.
  3. Attaboy Castro & Vazquez, getting it done.
  4. Adios Byron, joining Royce on the IL. I think it has a lot to do with the guy being asked to steal on three pitches in a row. Not that a normal athlete shouldn't be able to do that, but Buxton hitting the "turbo" button 3 times within a 1 minute time frame is bound to snap something. Very unfortunate. Wish Larnach could have put one of those balls in play.
  5. Local market fans can't watch the local team's MLB games? This is a massive failure and should be the biggest story in sports media right now. Unreal. I think we have to get used to this new normal, where decisions are always, always, ALWAYS based on what's best for "shareholder value". Nobody cares about doing what's best for the consumer, those days are long gone. I'll fire up MLB.TV from Florida today and pour one out for the rest of you. Good luck.
  6. Let's make it 10. Correa with that cannon of an arm and clutch hitting already making a difference. Now if Buxton can get hot we might have something. Looking at this team's recent success it's hard not to cringe when you think of what could have been if Royce Lewis was with this ballclub. Twins could have easily been down 0-2 in this series but these late rallies have been encouraging to see. The Boston series will be an interesting measuring stick.
  7. We saw entertaining baseball this week! Finally! Nice to see Austin Martin playing regularly. He has 6 walks so far this year and 12 strikeouts, which is at least average plate discipline. Great to see him hustling around the bases yesterday! The kid filled up the stat sheet. This week the Twins team batting average has rocketed up to #19 in the league after being stuck in 29th for the entire year.
  8. While DeSclafini wasn't the core piece of this trade, pretending all of a sudden that the Twins were going to throw him in the trash all along is being dishonest. While most were disappointed with that get, everyone had their fingers crossed that the guy would eat some innings for this team, who is thin at starting pitching. That aside, I'm shocked Polanco is doing so poorly thusfar. Mariners fans probably aren't too thrilled. He will likely heat up though, I won't count him out yet. Sure will be nice to see Topa one of these days.
  9. Wut? Byung Ho-Park is the South Korean baseball player who played for the Twins in 2016. Do-Hyoung Park is the Twins MLB beat writer/journalist.
  10. Yep. Larnach has been handed this gig for 3 years in a row now and hasn't been able to hold it. How big of a surprise gift would it be if Trevor broke out and finally became the player we all hoped he'd be? It seems like a long shot but you never know.
  11. Can't complain, as a fan and a team you have to take these wins. With the hole the Twins have dug themselves, a sweep is a must to continue to build a bit of momentum. The White Sox are historically bad. It looks like several AAA teams might be better than them this year, I don't think that's a stretch. Good to see Correa's coming back soon. Would love to see Woods-Richardson pitch 6 scoreless today.
  12. Twins only struck out 6 times, and nobody struck out twice. Maybe there's something to this "making contact" thing? With 11 hits tonight the Twins batting average as a team has climbed to .201. That is second-to-last in baseball next to Chicago's .191.
  13. Worst offense in baseball and it's not close. Impossible to watch. I'm checked out, maybe I'll start watching again if they get close to .500. I like sports teams that are fun and/or interesting. This team is neither.
  14. Meanwhile Berrios is leading the AL in virtually every pitching statistic so far this year. He's 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA, absolutely dominating out there. I say the Twins should let Martin and Woods-Richardson play as much as possible this year. It's a lost year and developing those two, plus Lee and maybe a couple other rookies will greatly help this team in 2025. The return value for Berrios is nothing unless you let these guys play.
  15. I'm sure there have been bad or worse stretches - but frankly the beginning of the season is traditionally when averages are lowest so I'd be hard pressed to think there are tons of examples out there. I'd also be willing to guess that any team who has suffered a similar 17 game stretch (whether it be early in the season or not) sure as heck didn't make the playoffs.
  16. His last chance with the Twins, certainly. A 27 year-old former 1st round draft pick who's playing in the minors isn't a "prospect" - he's a "bust". And let's not pretend the expectations were low for this guy: Back in 2021, 90% of the readers here were tattooing Larnach's name in the lineup for the next decade. Turns out he can't hit a curveball. And guess what? If I know that, so do the Orioles, Tigers, and White Sox. Prediction: He'll hit below .150 and will be out of the organization by June 1st.
  17. I think we saw Peak Buxton in 2022 before the All-Star break. He made the All-Star team, homered in that AS game and was really about as good as he'd ever be for that half-season. Alas, all the injuries he's suffered have surpassed his natural ability to play at a high level. And perhaps more importantly, the mental anguish he's dealt with over his MLB career has also taken it's toll. I say this as a huge Byron Buxton fan: At this point Bux is probably in the bottom tier of outfielders in the AL, and it's hard to find more than 10 teams in baseball where he'd be able to make the starting OF. We should probably realistically start considering what the Minnesota outfield looks like without Buxton. The sooner the organization can move on from him, the better. I hope he has a resurgent May/June and the last place Twins can find a trade partner at the deadline.
  18. Worst offense in baseball right now. I'm not just saying that. Twins rank 30th out of 30 teams in batting average and runs. Unwatchable. Royce Lewis seems to be the only guy that can save this team and we won't see him until the 4th of July. Couldn't have scripted a worse start to the season. I don't know how anyone can be positive or hopeful based on what we've seen.
  19. CBS Sports says "Out until at least June 1". More conservative predictions have him out until the All-Star Break, mid-July.
  20. Over the past two games the Twins have hit 5 home runs yet scored only 6 total runs. They eeked one out today but still are firmly entrenched in 29th in baseball in runs scored and they have a long way to go to catch up to 28th. Glad they won but still extremely concerned about this team's offense.
  21. Unwatchable: Runs in MLB (fewest) - Chicago White Sox (23) - Minnesota Twins (26) - Oakland A's (34) Twins could go out there and drop 8 on the Dodgers today and still be 29th out of 30 in runs. Batting Average (worst) - Minnesota Twins (.181) - Miami Marlins (.204) 23 points separate the Twins from the next worst team. People say batting average doesn't matter. It does to me. I like watching a team that gets hits. Who doesn't? Stolen bases in MLB (fewest) - SF Giants (0) - Minnesota Twins (2) Even when they get on base, they just stand there. In short, they can't hit, they can't run, and they can't score. The most difficult team to watch in MLB right now from a fan's perspective and frankly it's not even close.
  22. I am completely with you and so is MLB - which is why they instituted a pitch clock and bigger bases, making it easier and more encouraging for teams to put the ball in play. The Twins for whatever reason haven't embraced "making contact" as a strategy. "Close your eyes and swing as hard as you can" has been the mantra since the juiced-ball year of 2019 and today this team is impossible to watch. Getting swept by Cleveland at home with your 3 best pitchers on the mound while striking out 50% of the ABs is not going to win you any casual fans - and die hard fans like those who post here have a right to be disappointed and frustrated. Unwatchable baseball. It was like this for about 2/3 of last year, too.
