    Buxton has been a disappointment, to be sure. But right now, with the season on the line, elimination game, October against the Astros - I think all Twins fans would be cheering for Bux if he pinch hit in the 9th with a chance to win it. Why the hell not? This is what baseball is all about man.

    We'll take it. Apparently an neutral, MLB-appointed doctor confirmed the shoulder problem. That said, I think any of us could say "my shoulder is sore" and that same quack would confirm that we're hurt, too.

    I think the Twins have seen enough of Kirilloff so far in these playoffs to be completely fine with that "penalty". The fact that the MLB allowed them to trade out AK for Bux in this position is GREAT for the Twins!

    My homer hanky finally arrived in Florida, just in time for the Twins' last home game of this series. I have no idea what's going to happen here. And when in doubt, you have to default to the most likely scenario: an Astros win. That said the Twins have surprised us before in this post season, and having a 35% chance to win isn't nothing. Altuve has got a hit to lead off the game every game of this series. Alvarez has homered every game of this series. If either of those streaks continue, the series is over. Get those guys out or just don't pitch to them, period. If the rest of the team beats you, hats off to them. If Ryan pitches a scoreless first, the team (and the fans) will start to feel some energy. If Ryan gives up anything in the first inning, this game is going to be over before it begins. Every scenario I play out in my head, I just keep seeing the same issues: Altuve and Alvarez's dominance, and just how ridiculously good the Astros are on the road this year. Regardless, Go Twins.

    ....an almost insurmountable task. Finished it for you there. Yeah it's bad. Gotta win tomorrow, first time this team has faced an elimination game. I'm afraid I know how they'll respond but they've surprised me before. Unfortunately this offense looks like they're in a dry patch and these offensive cold snaps can last weeks with this team.

    Yeah we've seen this movie before, unfortunately. Sad for the fans that it ended so quickly and abruptly. Didn't even have a chance to get warm in their seats before the game was over. A real shame. Twins need to have Joe Ryan pitch the game of his life tomorrow and then hope to somehow beat Verlander in Game 5 - if necessary. It's a big mountain to climb.

    Wallner and AK have looked overmatched deer in the headlights. They shouldn't be playing again in this series, gotta go with the vets.

    He's shrinking in the spotlight, Twins should absolutely be playing Donny Barrels instead of AK - regardless of matchup. Alex has looked horrific and needs the hook immediately.

    Time to get someone up. No reason to waste Gray any further, or to let this get any more out of hand. Lots of good reasons to pull him here, dont' see many good reasons to keep him in.

    Pretty hard not to with the shadows closing in on home plate by the 5th inning. This was a really bad time to start a game, although that may not even factor in.

    This series just took a very quick, dark turn. Shadows approaching in an hour at home plate. Verlander waiting in the wings tomorrow.

    I find myself drooling over the possibility of playing Texas in the ALCS. Could you imagine a Rangers/Twins AL Championship series followed by a Diamondbacks/Twins World Series? The networks would be so bummed. I'd imagine a perfect World Series for FOX would be Houston v. Atlanta. But yes, we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.
