  1. I think so. Royce Lewis seems to have hit a wall as well. The Twins have done a great job all season but they're running on fumes. You can't have Carlos Santana, Matt Wallner, and Christian Vasquez leading the charge down the stretch. This team needs their big guys. Where are they? And why haven't we heard diddly-squat about return times? I was hoping they were all just getting "extended rests" but it looks like they all really are hurt, and hurt badly, and we'll be lucky to see Bux and Correa by the end of the year. Same old same old.
  2. LOL I thought that too - like whaaa? When I reach the Pearly Gates I'm going to use that on the big man upstairs. "I wouldn't be here if you'd have given me the opportunity to stay healthy!"
  3. After looking at these results, it's pretty obvious that we need to go with Zebby, Pablo and Ober - in that order - against the Yankees in the Wildcard series. Right? Seriously though, great debut! Need to see Varland step up today. A real shame this team never seems to have all of it's parts healthy at the same time. As soon as someone emerges, a star goes down. As soon as that star comes back, another starter goes on the IL. I realize it's league-wide: Trout, Acuna, and the list of pitchers is too long to list.
  4. Agreed. Those saying the Twins "won" this trade don't really mean that. What they mean is, that the Twins didn't lose as badly. The Twins and Mariners basically went to Vegas together hoping to have a fun trip. Seattle got drunk, lost $5000 bucks and then fell into the hotel pool at 4am. Minnesota did the same thing, they just didn't fall into the pool. Either way, both of them are going to have a miserable flight home.
  5. There are tons of Twins blogs and Twitter accounts that do the same thing - a lot of "Just wait until Stewart gets back" type of talk, which to me is confusing. Brock Stewart has a career ERA of 5.00. In six MLB seasons, he's had two good ones. The other four have been bad or downright horrific: https://www.mlb.com/player/brock-stewart-592779 Topa has only had one good season (last year). Both guys are coming off what must be very serious injuries and they're 32 and 33 years old, respectively. I know we're all Twins fans here and we hope for the best, but this ongoing theme of "Stewart and Topa are going to save us" is absolutely ridiculous. Perhaps it's some kind of coping mechanism for people who are worried about the bullpen? To quote a recent popular phrase: it's just weird.
  6. Hard not to cheer for Randy Dobnak - he's never had to worry about being likeable or being a fan-favorite. But at some point, no matter how interesting or heartwarming your story is, you're going to have to deliver consistent big-league results. At this point, Twins fans want to see Randy pitch 6 scoreless innings as a starter or pitch 12-13 consecutive scoreless innings from the 'pen. Whether or not he has the ability to do so is the question.
  7. Great game by Lopez and great interview with Lopez there, if you haven't watched that clip please do. Really impressive to hear him discuss that 7th inning in detail.
  8. Keep 'em off! Ever since the Twins went off the air, they've been on a roll. No reason to mess with a good thing. Minnesota, I'm sorry but you're going to have to suffer for the greater good of the franchise.
  9. Meanwhile, in a parallel start tonight, Jose Berrios went four innings, gave up 3 runs and walked 6 in a home loss to the Rays. After an incredible start Berrios has a 6.41 ERA over the past month and has looked more and more like a guy who's running on fumes. Could the Blue Jays be hoping to trade him?
  10. Looks like a future outfielder. Looking forward to seeing how this guy hits!
  11. Farmer's got to be DFA'ed soon. His numbers are horrific, batting .192 with 0 homers! I don't think the Twins have to worry about someone else claiming him at this point. I reckon Farmer would likely refuse the assignment and elect free agency, correct? What's the downside to jettisoning this guy? Sure he's a nice depth piece but I don't see a reason for him to be on this team's big league roster.
  12. I told you. I TOLD YOU! Where's that Assistant GM job opening, Falvine? Gimme gimme gimme. In all seriousness it's horrific news about Royce but this does add a level of excitement back to the team. Lee is here to play every day, let's sit back and enjoy the show. HOF career starts NOW!
  13. Yeah this is bad news. At this point you hope the Twins can hang on for a Wild Card spot and maybe Lewis comes back for the playoffs. Reckon that's best case scenario at this point.
  14. Buxton will always be a "Favorite Twin" for many - and deservedly so. One small argument is that I'd say that Buxton is among the best players on the planet when he's HOT - not necessarily when merely "healthy". He's gone through some horrific cold stretches when perfectly healthy. Hopefully the current hot streak keeps going for a while, he can carry the team for a week or two when this happens. Let's all enjoy it while it lasts.
  15. If I had to choose between the two, I'd take Miranda. I am glad Larnach is contributing but I'm going to wait until he puts in a full season before I get too excited. Not sure how the Twins keep Miranda's bat and Lewis' bat in the lineup every day, but I suppose it's a good problem to have. Could Miranda possibly be a trade candidate?
  16. Great to see the success out West. Hope the Twins left Cole Sands behind when they boarded the flight. Guy makes Jay Jackson look like Mariano Rivera. Enough already. Buxton finding his groove is great to see. Has a chance to hit 20 homers this year, a month ago I wouldn't have believed it.
  17. Kyle Farmer trying to hide in the 9th hole goes 0-for-5. Brooks Lee, now. Put the kid in the OF if needed, just get him up and Farmer out. Festa with the "W". Nice. Buxton en fuego. He runs hot and cold and when he's hot you gotta just sit back and enjoy it. Good for him. Let's take 2 of 3 in Seattle boys.
  18. I don't care how far metrics and stats have come. Nobody's going to win Rookie of the Year with W-L record of 5-3, which is where SWR will probably finish if things keep going the way they are. It's only optics - but optics mean something when it comes to awards. Gotta get 10 wins to be in the conversation as a pitcher for ROY. Gil has this thing in hand, and it's not even close.
  19. Take off your Twins-colored glasses. This isn't 2019 Buxton. About 90% of center fielders in baseball get to that ball. It's hard to have a serious conversation with you about baseball if you're not grounded in reality.
