  1. With both catchers playing 75-90 games makes their catching position very strong. This should cement their catching position for the next couple of years and be one less position that needs to be addressed.
  2. I was never a Correa fan. I suggested he be traded at the trade deadline in July. We could have gotten more than we did for him. When he was signed last spring, I thought the intention was to trade him. Too late now.
  3. Yankees get Kepler and Pagan - Yankees get lefty hitting outfielder for their short right field porch. Pagan , eh cut. Twins get Volpe, Rordvedt, Hicks & Donaldson and eat about $25mil. Volpe starting shortstop, Rortvedt lefty hitting good defensive catcher, Hicks is Buxtons injury replacement 60 games a year and Donaldson we send out to anyone.
  4. One other thought. I have heard in the rule changes for next year that the ball will be larger. Who would that benefit more that Arraez having more ball surface to smack around?
  5. Not only was Arraez the best hitter on the team, but the best hitter with runners in scoring position. Arraez 366/441/862 42% of runners scored Buxton 145/280/635 34% of runners scored Correa 277/364/730 28% of runners scored If the objective is to sore runs, which is part of baseball, I think we keep Arreaz and let him hit third. I also think Arreaz will win several more batting titles and I wouldn't be surprised to have several season in the 360's. Too many fans think that the end all is to swing hard, strike out and occasionally hit a homerun, they really have no idea how hitting and run scoring is put together.
  6. Interesting, but the Marlins really need hitting and they do seem to have a surplus(bad word) of starting pitcher types.
  7. There is a long way between now and next July, but Baseball America made their first mock draft with the new lottery draft order. #5 Jacob Gonzalez ss Mississippi #13 Matt Shaw ss Maryland
  8. As it stands, even if we resign Correa, the Twins would only be treading water in probably the worst division in baseball. I don't think we need to trade any top 20 prospects.
  9. Move him if you can, else plan on him being 8th-9th inning defensive replacement.
  10. Painful thought isn't it? The team is pretty much in a treading water position in possibly the worst division in baseball. They need a really big jump start to ever get enough good payers on hand to make meaningful progress. We know they are npt going to ever add 100mil in free agents to make the leap. Watching them be an 80 win team year after year is certainly not gratifying.
  11. If they trade Arraez, they also need to trade Polanco, Kepler, Gray Maeda, Buxton (if possible) and forget about Correa. Just clear the decks and do a total rebuild.
  12. What has been spent recently and in the future is controlled by ownership, no matter what the owners say. Management usually falls in line with what ownership wants. Fans may blame management for what is spent, but that simply is not realistic. Otherwise every club would spend $300mil to try and keep up with the Dodgers. Management wants to win, that's how they usually keep their jobs long term, and owners want to make money first and foremost, then win if its in the cards. For 2023, I think payroll will be 46-48% of revenue + plus $25mil for what I would like.?
  13. If he gets selected by another team, then goes to their major league camp and winds up back on the Twins later on because he couldn't make the team, sounds like a win. He gets major league ojt on someone else's dime. If he stays on their team all year, oh well.
  14. Polanco has been a very good player for the Twins. But, to get to the World Series the Twins will need 4-5 players at his level or better. If they lose Correa (probably) and trade Polanco they're not to far from a complete rebuild. Trade Kepler and Sano is already gone, Buxton is the only veteran left when he plays. I can't see them getting trading for anything but high prospects or young guys with at least 3-4 years of team control. Sounds like a rebuild and just when we may be getting some semblance of a decent rotation
  15. I'm glad its the Rangers gamble.
  16. Rumor has it that next year the entire field will be made of sand. No traction , no steals. Since no grass, the infielders can play as deep as they want. Buckets and shovels optional.
  17. I think the front office and most fans have driven on since these 2 rule 5 picks and could care less. Even those whose usual modus operandi is to hate on the coaching and front office couldn't really find much to say about Wells and Baddoo. Que sera sera.
  18. Jeffers was brought to the majors with 25 games above A ball in 2020, during the covid season. He lost a certain amount of development time in the minors. To this point in his major league career in 535 at bats he has 24 homers and 70 RBI's. Although his 210/285/670 line is definitely not great, I think most teams would take 24 homers and 70 RBI's from the catching position. As mentioned above the Twins as a team will have to decide if they want fewer stolen bases or more stolen strikes.
  19. I would like to see him reach the maximum incentives in his contract.
  20. My problem with this is I think the Twins will need to start replacing Correa at shortstop after about 4 years. I don't think he hits well enough to be a DH or first baseman. He may last longer than 4 but does anyone see him playing shortstop in 10 years? 9? 8? 7?. There is a point in this contract like all long contracts that you will wish the player would just retire. You could also kick in a limited no trade clause, with a choice of say 10 teams. On the other hand you could look at drafts for the next 5 years as simply looking for the best starting pitcher options. We have drafted a lot of middle infielders and corner outfielders the past 5 years.
  21. New Years wish that the following players all get into plus 130 healthy games in 2023: Kirilloff, Buxton, Polanco, Arraez, Larnach, Miranda, Lewis, Julian, & Jeffers. It would be nice to know what we really have. If they get anywhere close to their potential the division title and more should be an easy reach.
  22. When I went to pay, there were no standard credit card options offered.
  23. You need some different payment method options.
  24. Can any team in the majors count on complete health in their starting rotation? Pipe dreams!
