  1. The hope of spring training is in the air.
  2. Lee or Lewis. Lewis or Lee. IDK. I'm looking forward to see them playing side by side in the Twins infield for years to come.
  3. I think i would keep Lewis away from second base, at least for this year. Try to reduce the risk of hard slides away from his injured knee. With the way the roster is, everyone coming up will probably need to play multiple positions. Unless there are several trades this year between now and the trade deadline. I'd expect at least 1 trade. He should be one of the guys backing up shortstop, along with Farmer.
  4. Jeffers could be added to list missing 10 weeks with a broken thumb. Probably should add Lewis and Paddock to the list also.
  5. We seem to have a wave coming late this year and early 24. It looks like another wave could come late 24& 25. I'm thinking ERod is in that 24/25 wave.
  6. We have many minor league players getting close to the majors with no set position. No big deal, they will eventually find them a spot that works best for the team. For Julian, I think we eliminate shortstop, center field and catcher. Have him split time between left field, dh and first base, with that occasional second base game. Like everyone else, I think his best position is hitter.
  7. Farmer is a free agent in 2025 and Gordon a free agent in 2028. So for multiple years the two could provide solid backups at a near starting level all around the field. For a team that stresses the ability to play multiple positions, I think they can cover everywhere on the field but the mound. As far as Kepler and Gallo go, I don't think either will be here beyond this year and the team needs to develop players in their position going forward.
  8. There are not many pitchers who can be starters long term with only one quality pitch. He definitely needs to bring one of his secondary pitches up to a quality pitch level. I'm thinking that teams will start catching up to his fastball and he won't have another pitch to get by on. Right now I see him as a 4/5 starter with an upside of possibly a 3.
  9. I have no problem with him being ranked #7, or even #4, or #15 or #25. What I like is the team took the gamble, jumped out there and grabbed him because he was available and had a high pre-draft projection. Over the years we've drafted plenty of middle relievers, utility infielders or 4th outfielders. Let alone all the picks that never made it to the pros for a cup of coffee. I would rather the team took the high upside gamble and failed, then took the sure bet whose upside will fill a reserve role on the roster. Its all right if we like our players better than other projection services, but we should like them as least as well as those other services. Personally I like the thought that he could be an ace, better than the thought that he could be an oft injured middle inning reliever.
  10. It was interesting to see that he only played 41 games at shortstop in '22. Just 4 errors, but only 41 games. In '21, 45 games at shortstop with 17 errors. Quite an improvement, but he hasn't played a lot of shortstop yet.
  11. Looks like infielders will play like they did for a hundred years. But not really, positioning will require a bit more thought and there were always holes between fielders, but not many hitters seem to take advantage of them. The batters that always had wide open bunt hits available, will lose more of those opportunities that they didn't use.
  12. I'd save a spot in the rotation for him to earn. A lot of the time I don't think batters were ready to hit against a guy who was immediately back on the mound and ready with the next pitch. This year they will have to be, but that doesn't mean he will lose his effectiveness.
  13. I wouldn't want both Kepler and Gallo in the lineup on the same day. An opponents starting pitcher would love to see them together in the lineup. One a strikeout and the other a grounder to second. lineup Polanco 2b, Correa ss, Kirilloff 1b, Buxton cf, Miranda 3b, Larnach lf, Vazquez c, Gallo rf, Gordon dh
  14. Thanks. Hopefully not too many swipe tags this year.
  15. A healthy KIrilloff would probably be their best number 3 hitter. It might take him half a season to get there, since there are more choices available. A roster as healthy as last years was injured could be an incredibly strong team. Anybody know which wrist had the surgery. The throwing hand, or the catching hand? Could be very important for a first baseman.
  16. I look forward to seeing Martin in the lineup at St Paul this season, that should be a very strong lineup. Probably our strongest in years. Maybe late summer we can see him in the Twins lineup. He would be a very traditional leadoff hitter.
  17. Keeping Kepler is taking at bats away from what would likely be a more productive hitter. We wouldn't be trading Kepler for peanuts. We would be trading him for peanuts plus another bat currently on the team getting more playing time.
  18. At 6'2" and 196 lbs Jose Rodriguez looks like he has the size to support future projections of power. Hopefully he won't outgrow his position on the field.
  19. Of the names above, I'd go with Henriquez first, then Sands. Further back, I might start considering Headrick, age 25, probably in double A, as a pitcher who could pitch in relief this year. Although, so far, he does combine a high strikeout rate with a low walk rate as a left handed starter. His total innings worked in the minors is only 175. It would probably take him a couple more year to work up to 350-400 innings.
  20. Not something they do, but I'd lean towards taking the best pitcher available if there is one around their draft position.
  21. The FCL league team could be worth tracking this year. Plenty of hitters its looks like, with a few more further up the prospect lists I think. Now if they could find some pitching. AAA is looking like it could be a really tough team this year. Hopefully they finish in first and provide plenty of depth for the Twins when needed.
  22. Sure seems like the Steamer projection is very low for him, but not much history yet. I think he should hit in the middle of the lineup starting out 5th or 6th with a good number of RBI opportunities. Hopefully this year he has hitters around him who are having good years.
  23. I also thought Fulmer had done better than his numbers were showing. I think we have a few guys who could match or better his numbers likely to start the year at St Paul. I agree with the long relief role responses. I expect we see very few starters complete 6 innings this year. Which means an average of 4 relievers a game. Its better, I think, to have Ober or Winder pitch 2-3 innings in relief every 3-4 games then continue to burn out the bullpen.
  24. Gallo's career strikeout rate is 44%. Do you really want him up the most of anyone on the team? Lets start the game with a strikeout. That'll be exciting.
  25. I'd trade Kepler for the best offer as of March 15th. If they are overwhelmed before that pull the trigger. They've got some young guys that need to play and Kepler has had his time to prove or disprove what he can do. 8 years ago I looked forward to him batting third in the lineup and having a great career. That time has passed. If we can trade Arraez, we can trade Kepler. Don't know what we can get, but clear some roster space.
