  1. The win is okay, I guess. But the #9 hitter should've gone 7-for-7.
  2. lol at people complaining about short starts on Opening Day. A lot has changed in baseball, but it's March. Pitchers aren't ramped up yet. And it's been that way for most of my 40+ years on this planet.
  3. Twins Bench Coach 2024.
  4. He looked good in a tiny sample last April, but I don't think he moves the needle either way. Now he gets a MLB job. Good for him.
  5. Exactly. I read his comment as throwing unnecessary shade at 2 pitchers who aren't there anymore, saying "These guys didn't mind not pitching late in games (which was the manager's call, but they should've whined about it too)." And maybe I'm wrong. Whatever. It's just a quote in the sports pages. There will be a new one tomorrow. I generally don't read much into these kinds of things.
  6. A good manager adapts to the roster, so we'll see what happens this year. I read Gray's comments as a direct insult to last year's pitchers: not their talent, but their mindset or work ethic. Which...even if I agree with his point, it feels like he's needlessly throwing some people under the bus. He comes across as a jerk to me, not a leader.
  7. Sanchez and Pineda surprise me. The others...not so much. Various health or age concerns with many.
  8. This article raises more questions than it answers, honestly. What are the other 14 teams they own (do they own multiple in the same league)? Is this corporate approach common in indie ball? I've thought the move from indie to Twins affiliate was an odd step given the Saints' history. I wonder if Goldklang will soon get back into non-affiliate leagues. Or maybe they're just cashing the check from a publicly financed stadium and easing into early retirement.
  9. Speaking on Gallo, I thought one-year contracts didn't meet the terms for a QO. Or was that the previous CBA? Either way, his bounceback is a longshot... This stuff is still fun to nitpick.
  10. The way pitchers get paid, it's almost a no brainer to give a QO to most starters. They're unlikely to take it. Plus, you've given me a trolling theme to root for Pagan now.
  11. I just came here to say those are the ugliest baseball uniforms I've ever seen. Even worse than the camo Padres.
  12. I'm talking about the next offseason, when they cut him? Or did they "sell" him back to the KBO? I honestly don't remember. But even then, teams could have offered a trade.
  13. I want to believe he could has thrived with more time. But no other teams offered him a contract after the Twins, which is telling. They definitely have been scouts than me.
  14. I hope they don't call him up. What about those AAAA players on the fringe of the 40-roster. They're probably all the next David Ortiz or Liam Hendriks. /s
  15. Exactly. Players seem to perform better when they earn a position vs being handed it. Not unlike most things in life.
  16. Look up what the Twins gave up to acquire Farmer. They aren't much in return. Good teams have starter quality backups. Farmer is a perfect fit for this team right now and the Twins can always reevaluate at the trade deadline.
  17. I understand the value of multimedia, but please identify the medium in the headline, at minimum. Personally, I'm never going to watch these. I prefer to keep the sound off while using devices and I don't find watching people talking to their phones to be interesting.
  18. Stadium radar guns are a marketing tool, not a coaching tool, correct? I'd love to see an independent study on that. Though I'm sure MLB wouldn't allow it.
  19. Okay, I may be a convert if I don't have to listen to Bert.
  20. I misread this as a different D Santana and had a mild heart attack.
  21. Balazovic is definitely make or break. The others are lower in the system yet. I really don't care about #s below AA. Sure, good numbers are good but... sometimes it takes a while to figure it out. And a lot of 1st round picks have never struggled before pro ball, so it's a mental battle too. The odds are stacked against all 3 for sure. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and progress.
  22. No such thing as too many good players. Y'all worry too much.
