    Piggybacking off your data, here are more teams: Tampa Rays - 14 Baltimore - 14 Yankees - 19 Astros - 18 Atlanta - 14 The amount of losses a team has is pretty dang close to how many games they have scored 3 runs or less. Concur that 5 runs is the magic number to reach. If the Twins did that more consistently, they would be a top team in baseball.

    Pretty much the same theme every week. Starting pitching good, offense bad, bullpen somewhere in between. I don’t find this formula to be entertaining and haven’t been watching much Twins baseball in the last month.

    Yep. I’m hardly a fan of Pagan but it’s crazy how much hate Pagan receives on here, Twitter, and Reddit when he has a bad outing. But here we are, hook line and sinker. Pagan drives emotions and clicks so Theo can get paid.

    Every MLB team has 2 or 3 relievers for low leverage outings. There isn’t one team that has 8 high leverage shut down relievers.

    Good post and I concur. Pagan is a vast majority of fans’ favorite punching bag. Unfortunately for him, the damage is already done and no amount of perfect innings is going to change the perception of him in a Twins uniform. For the most part, Pagan is fine in his low leverage role. Hopefully now that we’re 25% through the year, we start shuttling more prospects into the pen and see who catches fire.

    Phil Cuzzi has to be better than that. When both broadcast teams agree that Kirilloff had no chance you know it’s bad.

    As am I. Jose Miranda may have a difficult time getting a call up if Lewis produces right away.

    The quote IMO shows he has excellent self awareness. I respect the fact that he pointed out the money he makes and his performance up to date is not acceptable.

    I don’t know anything about the stuff Popkins does with the players on and off the field. The unfortunate thing is they can’t trade away or DFA everyone that’s struggling so he’ll be the likely scapegoat. If I were Popkins and my job was on the line, I’d argue that the talent I’m working with doesn’t jive with the new rules implemented. Lots of plodding, swing for the fences type of players. Top signing last winter was a Mendoza line 3 true outcomes hitter. Traded away the only elite contact bat in the lineup… I don’t know man, even this average Joe fan recognized the offense was going to be the biggest issue on the team before the season started.

    Injuries will dictate what happens obviously, but in an ideal world… Royce Lewis up in mid June, playing a super utility role including the OF. Donnie Barrels DFA’d and off the team if he does not want to go to AAA. Willi Castro sent to AAA. Miranda needs to start hitting ASAP otherwise he’ll be back in AAA too.

    The saving grace is the AL Central is a 2 team division. Cleveland could, and probably will heat up at some point. It’s a race to 83 wins.

    Hopefully the Twins signed up for Uber rewards with the frequency they’re using the MLB/AAA shuttle this year.

    Brock Stewart gets added to the 40 man and called up to the Twins. Here is an excerpt from MLBTradeRumors: The 2023 season has been a much different story thus far. He’s blitzed out of the gate with a 2.08 ERA and gaudy 48.6% strikeout rate in 8 2/3 innings, walking just 5.7% of his opponents. Stewart’s raw 17-to-2 K/BB ratio is intriguing, even in a small sample at the Triple-A level, particularly since he’s added considerable velocity in recent years. Stewart averaged 92.8 mph on his four-seamer during his 2016-19 run with Los Angeles and Toronto but has since moved to short relief stints and ramped that velocity into the upper 90s. In addition to that massive strikeout rate, he’s also sporting an enormous 22.1% swinging-strike rate in St. Paul.

    2 guys in the pen now that can go multiple innings for sure. I like the move so Alcala can reset himself in AAA. He’s been very spotty with the command.
